Purpose
The Director, Quality Assurance owns the enterprise QA function and is chartered to install the rigor that comes with an ASTQB-aligned methodology, develop the team, and make quality measurable and visible to the organization. Quality assurance at PANTHERx must span two distinct disciplines: software delivery validation and data pipeline integrity. The Director will consolidate and mature both surfaces under a unified QA framework, embedding quality upstream into requirements and acceptance criteria rather than treating it as a final gate before release. This role is a close peer to the Director, Informatics, with a shared dependency: Informatics defines acceptance criteria; QA executes against them.
ResponsibilitiesEnterprise QA Strategy & Standards
- Defines and owns the enterprise QA framework, methodology, and standards, aligned to ASTQB principles.
- Establishes a unified testing methodology spanning software delivery, data engineering pipelines, and analytics outputs.
- Drives adoption of structured acceptance criteria upstream, in partnership with the Director, Informatics.
- Creates a quality maturity model and roadmap with measurable milestones
Software Delivery QA
- Owns test strategy, test planning, and test execution standards for software delivery, including in-house applications, APIs, SMS/mobile, and portals.
- Formalizes test case documentation, regression suites, and defect management processes.
- Defines defect severity classifications, escalation thresholds, and root cause review cadence.
Data Quality & Pipeline Validation
- Matures the Data QA function from basic scripting to structured test plans, formal test cases, and regression coverage.
- Partners with Data & Analytics leadership to embed validation checkpoints at ingestion, transformation, and delivery layers.
- Aligns data quality testing to the Data Governance standards, ensuring QA operationalizes the quality dimensions Governance defines (completeness, accuracy, timeliness, consistency, uniqueness).
Tooling, Automation & Metrics
- Drives automation strategy targeting regression and pipeline validation as primary surfaces; sets regression automation coverage targets.
- Establishes quality metrics dashboards: defect rates, escape rates, test coverage, and cycle time, reported to IT leadership.
- 10+ years of progressive QA experience, including at least 3 years at a director or equivalent level.
- Demonstrated experience maturing informal or under-structured QA teams, installing methodology where it did not previously exist.
- Deep familiarity with ASTQB frameworks: test planning, test case design, defect lifecycle, and regression strategy.
- Hands-on experience with QA in both software delivery and data/analytics environments.
- Proven ability to lead through influence, building adoption across peer functions rather than relying solely on top-down authority within QA.
- Strong communication skills; able to translate QA metrics and risk into language meaningful to non-technical executives.
- Healthcare, specialty pharmacy, or regulated industry experience, with exposure to clinical or operational data environments.
- ISTQB/ASTQB certification (Foundation, Advanced, or Expert level).
- Familiarity with data quality frameworks (DAMA, TDQM) and data governance integration.
- Experience with test automation frameworks (Selenium, Playwright, pytest, dbt tests, Great Expectations).
- Exposure to cloud-based data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and modern data stack environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
