Production Operations Manager

The Production Operations Manager is responsible for the overall management of the production operations in a food processing manufacturing facility. This includes production planning, scheduling, and coordinating all production activities and the management and direction of production workers. The Production Manager will work with the quality department ensuring that the facility meets all SQF/BRC quality and safety standards and targets. The Production Manager will also help facilitate a culture of lean manufacturing, TPM and employee training and performance management. This position will be responsible for achieving key KPI targets, and developing SOP's and accountability with employees in achievement of goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement production plans for the facility for daily, weekly production targets.
  • Schedule and coordinate the activities of production workers for forecasted production.
  • Monitor the production process to ensure that KPI's are being achieved and that waste and downtime are minimized.
  • Work cross functional with quality and maintenance to insure that the facility meets all quality and safety standards
  • Manage the production department budget for personnel and resources
  • Recruit, train, and develop production workers, supervisors and hourly personnel on Lean manufacturing principles and the achievement of KPI targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field or at least 15 years of Production Management experience in a food manufacturing facility
  • Experience implementing or working in a Lean Manufacturing, TPM, or Performance Management facility and a Lean culture
  • Proven ability to manage and lead a team of production workers
  • Strong understanding of SQF/BRC, HACCP, Food Safety, Process, OSHA and facility Safety programs
  • Proven experience in implementing accountability, KPI's, the development of SOP's and fostering new ideas and rewarding employees for performance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a management team to establish targets, KPI's, operating procedures, training programs and budgets
