Marketing Manager

Reports To: Deputy General Manager

Job Summary: Development and execution of marketing and promotional programs that support community and business relationship building, improve public perceptions of MetroLink Tulsa, as well as build ridership and community support for public transportation.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and coordinate marketing and promotion activities for MetroLink Tulsa such as public open house meetings, public hearings, promotion of new products or services, press conferences, etc.
  • Manage the development, design, production, distribution, and marketing of communication for external purposes. Examples include, but are not limited to, social media, ads, press releases, emails, texts, newsletters, digital marketing, radio, tv, etc.
  • Update, manage, and print MetroLink Tulsa Route Schedules and Route Maps.
  • Coordinate and monitor programs designed to improve external perception of MetroLink Tulsa and its services.
  • Represent or provide presentations for MetroLink Tulsa at Board Meetings and community functions.
  • Provide information and solicit potential business for fixed route and other services.
  • Conduct interviews with the media for Metro Link Tulsa activities.
  • Manage 3rd Party Marketing Firm relationships.
  • Will perform marketing research including development and execution of external surveys, focus groups, community meetings, and public meetings for route changes.
  • Assist in development of the marketing budget and individual marketing campaign budgets.
  • Develop marketing plans and projects.
  • Create and place ads with websites, agencies, newspapers, billboards, and other media sources.
  • Coordinates with various MetroLink Tulsa departments to create printed materials and videos for recruiting, training, and safety notifications.
  • Maintain MetroLink Tulsa's website with current information including, but not limited to, the service closures or delays, information updates, etc.
  • Must be flexible and work evenings and/or weekends as necessary.
  • Must attend MetroLink Tulsa media related, internal, and external events.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining departmental SOP's (standard operating procedures) performed by staff.
  • Manage, monitor, and evaluate departmental staff performance and regularly meet staff to discuss performance compared to stated goals.
  • Assist the Deputy General Manager in effectively managing the Marketing budget and staff including but not limited to scheduling, hiring, firing, performance counseling, disciplinary actions, evaluations and OESC appeals hearings.
  • Development and management of all training for Marketing Dept. Staff regarding all aspects of job duties.
  • Approve and submit payroll records for Marketing employees.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all company, customer and personnel related information.
  • Must report to work on a regular and timely basis.
  • Perform other incidental duties as may be assigned.

Requirements:

Knowledge - Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or closely related field is desired. At least two years of marketing experience may be substituted for formal education. Being bi-lingual is a plus. Must have social media marketing skills. Must know graphic design software such as Photoshop or equivalent. Must have demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in person, on the telephone, and in group settings. Must have excellent grammar, writing, and organizational skills. Must be proficient in operating a personal computer. Must be a self-starter, creative, work without supervision, and have the ability to work under tight deadlines.

Mental Effort - Requires ability to handle numerous activities at one time. Must be creative and able to work independently or with others. Ability to understand federal regulations is required. Must also have the ability to interact favorably with all Metro Link Tulsa personnel and the public.

Physical - Extensive sitting, walking and standing are all required in the course of a normal workday. May be required to lift or push 15 to 50 pounds.

Auditory and Visual Requirements - Requires ability to hear and respond to telephone and verbal communications. Visual acuity sufficient to perform essential job functions, including prolonged use of computer monitors and other visual display equipment.

Additional Requirements - Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required. Attendance at meetings, seminars, and training sessions is required. Employee must maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety and accident prevention. Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver's license.
