ABOUT THE COMPANY Penderia Technologies is a biomedical sensor company founded in 2020 in Eugene, Oregon. We develop innovative implantable sensing technologies that provide objective, data-driven insights for orthopedic procedures and rehabilitation. Our lead product is a wireless implantable sensor designed to measure graft load during soft tissue reconstruction. In 2025, this technology received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation, recognizing its potential to improve patient outcomes and transform orthopedic care.

POSITION SUMMARY Penderia Technologies is seeking a motivated and versatile Embedded Systems Engineer to support the development of next-generation implantable medical devices and their associated instrumentation systems. This role spans embedded electronic systems, firmware development, system integration, signal processing/algorithm development, verification, and regulatory documentation. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to advance our implantable sensor platform from development through commercialization.
We are open to candidates ranging from individual contributors to more senior engineers capable of providing technical leadership. Title and responsibilities will be tailored to experience and qualifications. with option to work on-site full time.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Embedded Systems Development
Work across a variety of software lifecycle activities as determined by program needs, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware in C++ for implantable sensing systems and associated instrumentation.
Develop software in Python for data acquisition, data analysis, signal processing, and engineering tools.
Troubleshoot and debug hardware and firmware using laboratory instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, network analyzers, and function generators.
Software Development
Develop robust, maintainable, and well-documented software following established software engineering best practices.
Participate in software requirements development, design reviews, code reviews, and software risk management activities.
Create and maintain automated test tools and scripts to support product development and verification activities.
Analyze performance data, investigate system failures, and implement corrective actions.
Verification, Validation, and Documentation
Develop and execute verification plans, test protocols, and engineering studies.
Support development activities conducted under medical device quality systems and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration and Technical Leadership
Work closely with electrical, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and clinical stakeholders.
Present technical findings during design reviews, project meetings, and regulatory discussions.
Contribute to product development planning, technical strategy, and continuous process improvement.
For more candidates with 5 or more years of experience, provide technical leadership and mentorship across engineering disciplines.
QUALIFICATIONS Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field.
of relevant work experience in embedded systems, electronics development, medical devices, or related industries.
Programming experience in C++ or equivalent.
Experience using Python for test automation, data analysis, or engineering tools.
Experience debugging hardware and embedded systems using laboratory instrumentation.
Understanding of electronics fundamentals and hardware/software integration.
Experience developing and executing engineering test plans and verification activities.
Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary startup environment.
Preferred Qualifications Candidates are not expected to possess all of the qualifications below.
Experience working within an ISO 13485 quality management system.
Experience preparing regulatory, design-control, and software documentation for medical devices.
Understanding of LCR circuits, RF measurement systems, or related measurement technologies.
Experience developing automated test frameworks and reusable verification tools.
Experience working within cross-functional engineering efforts.
Interest in applying engineering skills to solve challenging biomedical problems.
