Job Summary:
The Database Analyst is an expert in assigned data systems, reporting solutions, and database operations, supporting enterprise technology initiatives and data-driven decision-making. The Database Analyst will assess evolving business needs, collaborate with functional and technical stakeholders, and provide actionable insights to improve data quality, reporting capabilities, and system performance. This role is responsible for maintaining database integrity, supporting Ellucian Student Information System (SIS) operations, optimizing data processes, and ensuring secure and reliable access to organizational data. The Database Analyst will also coordinate with reporting teams and business stakeholders to develop data solutions, support system enhancements, and deliver meaningful reporting. The Database Analyst is highly analytical, organized, and driven to achieve results while managing multiple priorities and supporting enterprise data initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Partner with functional and technical stakeholders to assess data needs, reporting requirements, and system improvement opportunities.
· Manage and maintain enterprise databases to ensure data integrity, security, availability, and optimal performance.
· Support Ellucian Student Information System (SIS) operations, integrations, and reporting initiatives across the organization.
· Store, extract, transform, load, authenticate, and manage data across multiple systems and platforms.
· Monitor database environments and implement proactive measures to identify and resolve performance, security, and data quality issues.
· Configure and maintain database structures, security controls, and user access to support business operations and compliance requirements.
· Analyze database performance and recommend improvements related to queries, indexing, storage, and overall system efficiency.
· Conduct capacity planning activities to support future growth, performance optimization, and data storage requirements.
· Develop and maintain documentation including data dictionaries, database configurations, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
· Collaborate with reporting teams and business stakeholders to optimize reports, improve data accessibility, and support informed decision-making.
· Implement and maintain database monitoring and reporting tools to proactively identify and resolve issues.
· Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders regarding data solutions, system performance, and project progress.

Qualifications & Skills:
Required
· Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university
· 3+ years of experience supporting databases in a Microsoft Windows environment
· Experience working with Student Information Systems (SIS)
· Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, ETL processes, and database administration principles
· Proficiency writing complex SQL queries and optimizing database performance
· Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and documentation skills
· Experience supporting enterprise applications operating within Microsoft environments, including infrastructure dependencies, access controls, and upgrade processes
· Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve database and reporting issues with attention to detail
· Experience collaborating with reporting teams and business stakeholders to develop and enhance reporting solutions
· Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
· Proficiency in computer skills including word processing software, spreadsheet software, presentation software, Adobe software, email management, digital calendars, and video conferencing
Preferred
· Experience supporting Ellucian Colleague and/or Banner
· Previous experience working in a higher education environment
· Experience supporting enterprise data integrations and data migration initiatives
