Job Description Randolph Public Schools is searching for a highly skilled and motivated Desktop Support Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of desktop operating systems, routinely thinks outside the box to solve problems quickly and provides excellent customer service. The Technician will ensure each department achieves key customer service metrics by repairing computers and performing technical and system diagnostics as required.
Job Goal: To provide effective deployment, maintenance, and support of all business operational components, including but not limited to the configuration and deployment of multi‑platform devices, application of security policies, software installation and patch management, audio‑visual equipment, and management of networking technologies required to support an educational environment.
Performance Responsibilities
Respond to all support requests and tickets.
Maintain detailed inventory, maintenance, and support statistics.
Ensure accurate data entry into the helpdesk system, including issue types, resolution actions, and correct associations with students/staff/assets.
Diagnose and perform break/fix actions on student and staff equipment, such as Windows laptops and Chromebooks.
Provide professional development training for staff when needed.
Assist in developing effective and efficient maintenance practices.
Deploy and maintain all desktop, mobile, and peripheral technology equipment.
Maintain all software installations, updates, and patches.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.
Job Requirements
Strong understanding of Microsoft, Chrome, and Apple operating systems.
Ability to read and understand technical manuals.
Ability to multi‑task and prioritize projects effectively.
Effective communication skills.
At least one year of relevant experience (preferred).
Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
Experience with IncidentIQ, PowerSchool, Blocksi, Google Admin Console, Clever, and other educational platforms (desired, not mandatory).
Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
Valid Massachusetts driver’s license; required to travel between multiple locations.
Ability to lift and carry objects up to 45 pounds.
