General Managers are responsible for all aspects of operating and supervising the store.
General Managers are responsible for:
- Managing all functions of a Jimmy John's restaurant to ensure exceptional customer service and high quality products are delivered, while ensuring restaurant profitability.
- Directing the successful execution of fast, accurate sandwiches and world-class customer service while maintaining a clean, organized shift.
- Interacting effectively with all levels of the organization, as well as the broader Jimmy John's Company.
Major duties and responsibilities include:
- Establishing the store's labor goals and staff needs, including pay rates.
- Managing a staff of approximately 3 to 15 employees. Assigning, overseeing and evaluating work.
- Managing hiring, training, evaluation, discipline, and termination of employees.
- Providing on-the-job training for new employees.
- Delegating and responsible for the ordering, receipt, storage and issuing of all food, labor, equipment, cleaning, and paper supplies for the unit to ensure a minimum loss from waste or theft.
- Supervising the preparation, sales, and service of food.
- Ordering the appropriate amount of food items to meet anticipated customer demand.
- Supervising food preparation and service operations.
- Ensuring that every customer receives world-class customer service.
- Routing deliveries and serving drivers to maximize delivery business and speed.
- Executing systems and procedures with 100% integrity and completeness.
- Completing daily and weekly paperwork.
- Being responsible for 100% of the cash drawers at all times during the shift.
- Implementing corporate policies.
- Controlling inventory by using a weekly inventory system and maintaining regular inventory ordering schedules.
- Receiving and storing product.
- Conducting weekly manager's meetings.
- Auditing systems and procedures as well as shift-ending paperwork.
- Arranging for preventive maintenance and upkeep on store's equipment and supplies.
- Performing other related duties as required.
As time permits, General Managers are also expected to:
- Assist in-shoppers during rush periods to ensure the maintenance of restaurant efficiency.
- Assist in-shoppers in greeting customers, taking orders, using the cash register, assembling order and checking for completeness and correctness.
- Complete daily food preparation (opening procedures, meat and vegetable slicing, bread production).
Skills and abilities include:
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
- Ability to handle and resolve customer threats and issues.
- Ability to handle and resolve employee issues.
- Ability to use a personal computer and various software packages (Word / Excel).
- Ability to handle stress and high-volume operations.
- Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, elicit work output and deal with customers.
Qualifications for position include:
- High school graduate or equivalent training.
- Completion of recommended corporate training programs.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, current automobile insurance, and a clean driving record.
- Experience with a retail food company is a plus.
Physical requirements include:
- Position requires bending, standing and walking the entire workday.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be at least 19 years of age.
- Must have the stamina to work a minimum of 50-60 hours a week.
