Assistant Branch Manager
The Assistant Branch Manager will be responsible for all distribution, safety, training, personnel, maintenance, dispatching and other activities as required. Supervision of facility personnel to include operators, drivers and administration. The ideal candidate will be able to function effectively with minimum supervision, and have the desire to lead the employees and ensure top notch customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise, train, and evaluate performance of all inside sales representatives, drivers, plant workers (where applicable), and warehouse personnel.
- Ensure all customers receive quality customer service from company associates.
- Checks accounts receivable as to status of existing accounts; communicates with credit department and contacts customers regarding overdue payments.
- Keeps Branch Manager informed of day-to-day activity and any issues that may need to be resolved.
- Responsible for all operations associated with the branch including, routing and maintenance of delivery trucks, pump room (where applicable), warehouse, inside sales, and compliance issues (paperwork).
- Direct activities of the operation on accomplishing (inside) sales and margin goals.
- Analyze position of company and develop price structures, cost estimates and inventory levels to improve overall competitive advantage.
- Analyze personnel, facilities and miscellaneous expenses to control operating costs.
- Participate in key supplier relationship and division vendor selection and consolidation program.
- Conduct field surveys which includes analysis of materials/equipment, cylinder audits, pricing policies, and attitude towards the Company.
- Prepare marketing programs (for inside sales), operating expenses (as related to sales functions), and performance goals.
- Organize monthly safety meetings and strictly enforce safety rules.
- Function in the capacity of Branch Manager when necessary.
- Provide direction, leadership and communication and cooperation within the division.
- Maintain corporate image and philosophy in all contact with co-workers, customers and vendors.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist customers with equipment set-up and demonstration as necessary.
- Ensure stock transfers and backorders are promptly and accurately completed.
- Ensure load manifests are properly completed and balanced with truck counts and shippers.
- Ensure subordinate complaints, grievances, etc. are effectively handled.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required; Bachelor's Degree in related field a plus.
- 3-5 years experience in the welding industry a plus.
- Computer experience or basic knowledge in order entry system.
- SAP software experience a plus.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify and cultivate future leaders.
