Work Schedule: 10 hours per week, Hybrid (In‑person requirement)
Job Summary The Rio Salado College Institutional Advancement Department is an established group of individuals who work in public relations, marketing, media relations, social media, graphic design, videography, UX/IU, CRM and website and project management.
We are seeking a content marketing and/or marketing analyst intern. The content marketing intern is one who desires hands‑on experience writing short‑ and long‑form content to support our content marketing strategy, communication plans, social media efforts and SEO. The marketing analyst intern is one who will assist with data analysis, communications analysis, writing and marketing plans. While you’re here, you can meet on a regular basis with team members to learn about their fields of expertise and explore options available in PR.
We desire someone who possesses strong storytelling skills (both written and visual) and has a clear and relatable voice. Primary responsibility will be to contribute timely and relevant articles to the RioNews Blog and recently launched monthly student and alumni newsletters, as well as social media content. Intern(s) may interview new‑to‑college students seeking associate degrees, faculty members discussing future careers or alumni sharing their educational and career paths.
Internship Scope
Internship dates may vary based on student availability. Internships available for multi terms (spring/summer/fall) or individual terms. Flexible option available to fit within parameters of student's school requirements.
Flexible schedule within the 9‑5 scope (Monday - Friday)
Regular virtual weekly meetings with Rio staff to discuss project progress and timeline. In person meetings as required.
What You Could Do
Write assigned or self‑identified pieces that fit the topics related to going to college, including but not limited to: tips for online learning, dual enrollment advice, alumni stories, web pages
Create content marketing materials - blog stories, social media, video clips, photography, online/digital content, newsletter content.
Curate top education social media trends to identify story topics
Analyze marketing and communications efforts, including email communication, web traffic, social media reach and more.
Minimum Qualifications
Currently a second or third‑year marketing student (junior or senior preferred); prefer student with aspirations of going into the areas of Public Relations, Marketing or related field
Established communication skills and professional demeanor
Experience conducting interviews, creating social media content for a business, club or related entity (non personal)
Willingness to work with various teams
Desired Qualifications
Social video creation experience
Desire to work in education communications
