Clare, Ireland Reports to: Operations Manager This position is initially offered on a contract basis, with the potential to become a permanent role for the right candidate The Role The Production Planner / Scheduler is responsible for production planning, raw material procurement planning and shipment scheduling.
This role offers the opportunity to work across the entire supply chain, from procuring raw materials to production planning and interfacing with customers regarding deliveries and forecasts.
The position provides detailed production schedules and works closely with purchasing teams and suppliers to streamline raw material procurement.
Operating in a dynamic environment with frequent new product introductions, the successful candidate must be adaptable and responsive to change.
Key Responsibilities Work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision to complete tasks in a safe, compliant and efficient manner.
Ensure timely and accurate responses to customer forecasts and orders by providing schedules, materials and accurate system information to manufacturing.
Manage production capacity and present scenario planning when constraints arise.
Integrate sales forecasts, budgets and inventory requirements for raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods.
Collaborate with purchasing teams to order raw materials in line with customer forecasts and work closely with project managers and technical teams during new product development.
Process purchase orders while adhering to audit requirements.
Manage supplier information records and obtain approvals where required.
Work with suppliers to understand shipping terms, material costs and lead times while driving continuous improvement.
Coordinate with carriers regarding freight invoices and incoming shipments.
Manage supplier invoices and liaise with Accounts Payable to ensure timely processing.
Support Finance with raw material costing and batch valuation queries.
Develop metrics and reports to analyse inventory health and drive improvements.
Manage raw material supply pipelines and inventory levels to minimise obsolete stock.
Participate in cross-functional initiatives to optimise MRP and inventory management processes.
Support SAP master data and new material/product introductions.
Forecast raw material requirements to key suppliers.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory reduction, material flow and cycle time improvements.
Develop and review supplier performance metrics and participate in supplier review meetings.
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks.
Ensure waste management practices comply with regulatory and licensing requirements.
Promote environmental, health and safety compliance and ensure operations are conducted in accordance with all applicable standards and procedures.
Collaborate across functions to implement new products, processes and site initiatives.
Maintain work areas, plant and equipment to the highest standards.
Actively participate in Continuous Improvement, TPM, 5S, Lean, Six Sigma and quality initiatives.
Complete all required training and maintain compliance standards.
Participate in audits, investigations, root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
Undertake any additional duties relevant to the role.
Education, Knowledge & Experience Degree or relevant qualification preferred; APICS certification desirable.
Minimum 5 years experience in production planning, materials planning and/or supply chain planning, ideally within the pharmaceutical, chemical or regulated manufacturing sector.
Knowledge of environmental, health and safety, quality and employment regulations.
Strong IT skills including SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
Experience in operational excellence, Lean, Six Sigma, project management and change management would be advantageous.
Full driving licence required.
