Roles and responsibilities:

• Excellent customer service- both on the sales floor, in assigned departments, on the telephone, and at the register
• Knowledge of inventory and locations of items. Direct customers to appropriate product/ department
• Operate cash register/ Point of Sale terminal
• Greet customers and provide courteous customer assistance as necessary
• Keep check-out area neat and clean
• Handle incoming phone calls
• Price or re-price merchandise as necessary
• Maintain needed forms and stock for cashier area
• Screen credit cards and checks before acceptance
• Train new staff in cashier responsibilities
• Understanding of the store's overall goals and how you fit into and affect them
• Knowledge of register and other equipment as required
• Watch for shoplifters and notify appropriate management
• Attend store meetings
• Participate in training as directed
• Other tasks and responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Department Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Store Manager, or owners
• Set a positive example by following company procedures

Qualifications:

• Lift/ move 50 lbs (low). Anything over this amount should be lifted/ moved with assistance from another staff member
• See, hear, touch, feel (high)
• Use hands/ type (high)
• Sit, walk, stand (high)
• Bend (moderate)
• Climb, twist (low)
• Use computer proficiently
• Work independently and as part of a team
• Communicate efficiently and effectively in writing and verbally
