We’re Looking For:
The Director of FP&A, OPENLANE Marketplace will serve as a strategic financial partner to the Marketplace leadership team. This role directly owns core financial forecast models while driving financial planning, forecasting, and strategic analysis at a business unit level, translating OPENLANE's overarching business goals into actionable financial strategies and data-driven insights. You will be responsible for driving financial transparency, maximizing business outcomes, and leading a high-performing team of financial analysts.

You Bring:
Core Knowledge (Financial Planning & Analysis)
Financial strategy, corporate budgeting, and complex multi-quarter forecasting
Unit economic modeling and margins analysis
Data-driven financial prioritization and capital investment evaluation
Continuous financial performance measurement, variance analysis, and reporting
Executive alignment, board-level presentation preparation, and cross-functional influence
Hands-on ownership of complex business unit forecast models; comfortable being 'in the weeds' of data architecture.
Advanced insight generation, including cohort analysis, pricing elasticity, marketing ROI, and regional margin profiles
Functional Expertise
Marketplace financial operations and SaaS/digital platform transaction models
Business impact modeling, pricing strategies, and margin trade-off evaluation
Mentoring, coaching, and developing a team of corporate finance professionals
Strategic alignment with commercial Go-To-Market (GTM) and operations teams
Technical Expertise
High technical proficiency with modern corporate FP&A planning tools
Deep understanding of complex data ecosystems, data pipelines, and reporting automation constraints
Advanced proficiency in data manipulation tools, financial modeling infrastructure, and business intelligence systems
Sound technical judgment regarding data accuracy and financial systems
You Own:
Financial Strategy & Vision (30%) Define, communicate, and execute the multi-quarter financial strategy aligned to OPENLANE’s broader marketplace goals.
Execution & Forecasting Oversight (30%) Directly own, maintain, and ensure the integrity of core marketplace forecast models; drive execution of monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting cycles.
People Leadership & Development (15%) Direct, coach, and develop FP&A team members; set high clear standards and support career progression through standard competencies.
Cross-Functional Business Partnering (15%) Align executive, operational, and commercial leaders around shared P&L accountability, cost targets, and growth decisions.
Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement (10%) Raise the bar on automation, reporting transparency, financial model scaling, and overall ways of working.
You Will:
Drive Execution:
Translating high-level marketplace strategies into detailed financial goals, models, and budgets
Ensuring consistent, high-quality, and reliable monthly financial reporting
Eliminating process bottlenecks, managing dependencies, and maintaining accurate financial data flow
Providing clarity, stewardship, and structured forward momentum in ambiguous environments
Drive Results:
Delivering measurable financial transparency, ROI improvements, and cost optimizations
Ensuring corporate investment allocations are deeply aligned with the company's long-term marketplace vision
Holding cross-functional business partners accountable to their budgeted targets and deliverables
Utilizing historical results and variance trends to continuously refine predictive financial models
Who You Will Work With:
Reporting to the Head of FP&A , this role will collaborate with the Marketplaces leadership team on a regular basis: Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Customer-facing teams. Corporate Accounting, Corporate Treasury, and Tax leaders. Executive leadership and strategic product/business peers
Where You Work:
Your work is ideally performed as a Hybrid employee out of our Global Headquarters in Carmel, Indiana.
Must Have’s:
8+ years of progressive experience in FP&A or corporate finance, including direct people leadership
Proven track record of managing a business unit P&L, budget, or complex marketplace ecosystem financial model
Strong communication, prioritization, financial storytelling, and executive presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to manage through rapid industry transitions, ambiguity, and change
Nice to Have’s:
Experience working in automotive wholesale, technology, or digital marketplaces
Experience scaling corporate finance structures within a high-growth environment
Advanced degree (MBA) or professional financial certifications (CFA, CPA)
