The role involves reviewing tender documentation, analysing project requirements, obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations, preparing detailed pricing, identifying project risks and opportunities, and supporting the successful acquisition of new business.
Key Responsibilities: Tender Preparation Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications and employer's requirements.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for Electrical and combined M&E projects.
Measure quantities from drawings and specifications.
Prepare Bills of Quantities where required.
Produce detailed take-offs using estimating software.
Supplier & Subcontractor Management Obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
Evaluate quotations for completeness and compliance.
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Negotiate pricing where appropriate.
Cost Estimating Prepare accurate labour, material, plant and subcontractor cost estimates.
Develop pricing schedules and tender summaries.
Ensure pricing reflects current market conditions.
Consider productivity rates, site logistics and programme requirements.
Risk Assessment Identify commercial and technical risks.
Highlight exclusions, assumptions and qualifications.
Participate in tender review meetings.
Tender Submission Compile complete tender submissions.
Ensure tenders are submitted on time.
Maintain accurate tender records.
Assist in post-tender negotiations and clarifications.
Handover Prepare comprehensive handover documentation for the delivery team following contract award.
Explain estimating assumptions and risk items to project managers.
Assist with budget establishment.
Market Intelligence Monitor labour and material cost trends.
Maintain an up-to-date estimating database.
Review competitor activity and market conditions.
Support continuous improvement of estimating procedures.

Previous Experience / Qualifications: 4 years working as an apprentice on site or good knowledge of the Electrical trade.
3 years working in an estimator role.
PC Skills.
Ability to work on their own initiative.
Excellent attention to detail Proven ability to meet deadlines.
Other Information Full Time Position.
Salary depending on experience.
Position based in CJK head office.
Working Time 39 hours per week but this will vary on certain weeks dependant on tender deadlines. xyswxtq
Possible requirement for additional evening coursework to develop competencies after 6 months.
