As a SalesAssociate at Ling’s Crystal Collection, you’ll be the heartbeat of the shopfloor. You’ll welcome every customer who walks through the door, guide themthrough our collection, and help them find what they’re looking for — even whenthey’re not quite sure what that is. You’ll report directly to the StoreManager and work as part of a close-knit team that takes pride in creating anexceptional in-store experience.
This isn’t a typicalretail job. Our customers are emotionally invested in what they buy. Your roleis part salesperson, part educator, and part curator — and the reward matchesthe effort.
Key Responsibilities
Greet every customer warmly and create awelcoming, low-pressure shopping experience
Ask thoughtful questions to understand what acustomer is drawn to and help guide their selection
Share the story, properties, and significance ofindividual crystals and collections with confidence
Handle customer questions, concerns, and specialrequests with professionalism and care
Build genuine rapport that brings customers back
Actively work toward individual and store dailysales goals
Suggest complementary items, gift sets, andadd-ons that genuinely add value for the customer
Communicate promotions, new arrivals, andfeatured items effectively
Take ownership of your daily sales performanceand look for opportunities to grow it
Product Knowledge
Develop and maintain working knowledge of ourcrystal and gemstone inventory — including origins, properties, and careguidance
Stay current on new arrivals, seasonal items,and featured collections
Be the go-to resource for customers seekingguidance on crystal selection, gifting, and display
Maintain attractive, organized, and engagingproduct displays throughout the store
Restock and face shelving to ensure the shopalways looks its best
Support seasonal display changes and new productsetups as directed by the Store Manager
Inventory & Operations
Receive, count, and organize incoming inventoryaccurately
Report low stock, damaged items, or inventorydiscrepancies to the Store Manager
Keep the sales floor and back-of-house areasclean, safe, and organized at all times
POS & Transactions
Process sales transactions accurately using thestore’s point-of-sale system
Handle cash, card, and gift transactions withcare and precision
Open and/or close the register as assigned,following all cash-handling procedures
Communicate clearly and positively with theStore Manager and fellow team members
Step up during busy periods and support whereverthe team needs you
Participate in team meetings, training sessions,and store events
Requirements Qualifications & Requirements Experience
1+ year of retail or customer-facing experiencepreferred; specialty/boutique retail a strong plus
Experience with a point-of-sale system required(willingness to learn a specific system is acceptable)
Prior experience in gift, wellness, home decor,or lifestyle retail is a meaningful advantage
Genuinely warm, outgoing personality — you lovetalking to people and it shows
Natural curiosity and enthusiasm for learningabout crystals, gemstones, and their significance
Strong verbal communication skills — you canexplain something clearly without being overwhelming
Comfortable working independently and using goodjudgment when the manager is unavailable
Detail-oriented — whether it’s a product displayor a transaction, you get it right
Reliable, punctual, and consistent — the teamcounts on you showing up ready to go
Comfortable standing for extended periods andlifting up to 30 lbs occasionally
Preferred (not required)
Personal interest in crystals, minerals,wellness, or metaphysical practices
Experience in a commission or goal-driven retailenvironment
Basic familiarity with social media for retail(a plus for in-store content opportunities)
Availability
Weekend availability is required — this is whenour customers shop
Flexible weekday availability is a strong plus
Full-time and part-time schedules available;schedule details to be discussed in the interview
$17.00–$19.00per hour , depending on experience.
This rate iscompetitive for specialty retail in Montgomery County / Clarksburg, MD. Thelocal retail wage market for customer-facing roles in this area typicallyranges from $15–$17/hour for general retail, with specialty boutiques and giftretail often landing at the higher end. The $17–$19 range positions Ling’sCrystal Collection as an employer of choice in this market and helps attractcandidates with genuine sales aptitude rather than those simply looking for anyretail position.
On topof your base hourly rate, you’ll earn daily sales commissions :

Whatthis looks like in practice:
On astrong 5-day week at the $500+ tier, commission earnings can add $100–$175+ ontop of your base pay. This is real, meaningful additional income for motivatedsellers.
