Job Summary The Data Engineer 5 leads and implements database development, ETL, and reporting efforts to support ministry-wide initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Data engineering (database development, ETL, reporting)
Lead complex, innovative and diverse data engineering initiatives
Lead the strategy and resolution of complex and significant data engineering challenges
Review incoming requests for feasibility within the system
Collaborate with stakeholders, providing guidance and consultation
Size solutions for workload planning
Work with QA teams on any testing questions, concerns, or issues
Be available as an escalation point for system questions
Mentor and guide less experienced engineers in their efforts
Document procedures
Other duties as assigned
Skills and Knowledge
Bachelor-level degree or equivalent experience required
10+ years of MS SQL Server database development
8+ years of SSIS development
5+ years of SSRS development
3+ years of batch scripting
3+ years with source control software
MySQL development experience a plus
SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) experience
Knowledge and understanding of DevOps principles
SQL Server Agent Job scheduling experience a plus
Bitbucket/Git, Visual Source Safe experience a plus
Kingswaysoft SSIS tools experience a plus
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Physical/Mental Demands
Work is typically performed in a conventional office environment
Work requires ability to work for extended periods at computer workstation
Flexibility to readily adapt when job parameters, deadlines, or directions change
Ability to work closely with others as part of a team
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to work effectively in virtual environment
Ability to work outside of regular business hours
