This position is based in our Charlotte office.

Description

As a Superintendent I, you're the leader on the ground running construction projects from start to finish and making sure the work gets built safely, on schedule, on budget, and to the high standard Samet is known for. You'll lead the field team, coordinate trade partners, and keep owners, designers, and stakeholders aligned from the first day through closeout.

What You'll Do

  • Provide field oversight across all phases of your assigned construction projects.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, keeping the work proactive and on track.
  • Manage subcontractor performance and hold trade partners to Samet's standards.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation for clear coordination and effective site management.
  • Implement and execute Quality Control / Quality Assurance programs.
  • Promote an injury-free job site through daily safety leadership and our award-winning safety program.
  • Build strong relationships with owners, designers, subcontractors, and trade partners.
  • Ensure all site work is completed according to project plans and specifications.
  • Build client and internal-customer confidence by exceeding expectations, solving problems quickly, and following through on commitments.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, construction engineering, or a related field.
  • 35 years of proven experience as a construction project superintendent.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (required).
  • Demonstrated mastery of construction methods, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency with project management software and tools.
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to build trust and inspire confidence.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a passion for superior customer service.
  • Understanding of Lean Construction practices and LEED green building requirements (preferred).
  • Experience in one or more of our markets commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, or multi-family housing (preferred).
  • A demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development.

Additional Requirements

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, walk on rough or uneven surfaces, use hands and fingers to feel or handle equipment and files, reach with hands and arms, drive, bend, climb stairs or ladders, balance, kneel, crouch, turn or twist, talk, see, and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to sit, handle hand and/or power tools, and may infrequently be required to crawl. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work Environment: The work environment is a construction site in various stages of completion, with noise and light levels ranging from low to high. Unpleasant or potentially harmful fumes may occasionally be present (proper PPE provided). Temperature varies by location and season. Frequent travel is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry-prevalent construction software, along with SharePoint. Ability to collaborate via Zoom or Teams and type professional correspondence.

Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates and Licenses: OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification required. A valid driver's license is required.
