Distribution Center Supervisor

The Distribution Center Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of an assigned distribution center by ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate receipt, storage, inventory management, and shipment of finished goods. This role leads warehouse associates, executes daily operating plans, maintains inventory accuracy, and drives performance in safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory and morale. Reporting to the Regional Distribution Center Manager, the Distribution Center Supervisor partners with cross-functional teams to meet customer requirements while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and developing a high-performing workforce.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily warehousing, shipping, receiving, and inventory activities.
  • Execute daily labor plans to maximize productivity while meeting customer expectations.
  • Monitor labor utilization, overtime, and staffing levels to achieve operational and budget objectives.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing, coordination, scheduling, and adjustment of inbound and outbound shipments using ERP, WMS, and other operational systems to meet customer and business requirements.
  • Oversee warehousing, space utilization, and material flow within the facility.
  • Support seasonal volume fluctuations through proactive planning and resource allocation.
  • Monitor daily warehouse performance metrics and implement corrective actions to support safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory accuracy, and morale.
  • Perform other duties and projects assigned in support of distribution center operations.
  • Foster a safety-first culture by ensuring compliance with all company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct routine safety observations, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure all powered industrial equipment is inspected, maintained, and operated safely.
  • Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards throughout the facility.
  • Support emergency response procedures and facility security.
  • Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy through disciplined inventory control processes.
  • Lead cycle count activities and support annual physical inventories.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure accurate inventory transactions within ERP, WMS, and other business systems.
  • Monitor inventory movements to minimize product damage, loss, and aging.
  • Provide daily leadership, coaching, and performance feedback to warehouse associates.
  • Conduct employee training, onboarding, performance evaluations, and development planning.
  • Promote employee engagement, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage attendance, scheduling, and timekeeping.
  • Support recruiting, disciplinary actions, and employee relations in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Identify opportunities to improve warehouse processes and support the implementation of improvements.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives including 5S, visual management, standardized work, and Kaizen events.
  • Share best practices across distribution centers to promote operational consistency.
  • Partner with planning, transportation, manufacturing/quality, customer service, maintenance, and supply chain teams to ensure efficient operations.
  • Lead daily shift meetings and communicate operational priorities.
  • Provide regular reporting on operational performance, staffing, inventory, and service metrics.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in warehouse or distribution operations.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Teams, Power BI, etc.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control and warehouse processes.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with labor planning and warehouse productivity management.
  • Prior experience operating warehousing equipment (dock doors, PITs, pallet jacks)
