Job Summary

The Materials Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day performance of the Material handlers' group and drives results through KPIs and the standardization of their work throughout Crane Aerospace & Electronics.

Essential Functions
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts with supporting organizations throughout the site including Buyers, Planners and Operations.
  • Develop, establish and lead the Material Handling team, including raw Material and Finished Goods Stores being both mentor and coach to develop individual and team excellence
  • Maintain and facilitate the accurate control and accountability of inventory
  • Communicate with external and internal customers regarding problems associated with inventory receipt variances and address and resolve issues quickly. Serve as liaison to other functional areas in order to ensure the day-to-day problems and conflicts are resolved and that discrepancies are addressed
  • Maintain a proactively trained and flexible team ensuring that material handler team members have proper skills for their assignments and that they are highly responsive to the needs of internal and external customers
  • Assist in continuous quality improvement. Evaluate and recommend changes in methods and procedures
  • Plan, coordinate and manage the performance of physical inventories and/or cycle counting as required to meet fiscal reporting requirements
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management
Non-Essential Functions
  • At low volume sites, may also be responsible for other areas of the business as assigned by manager. Including, but not limited to Purchasing, Planning, Inventory Control and Warehouse.
  • Coordinate with or lead Excess & Obsolete inventory data reporting, disposition, withdrawal and disposal processes with Procurement.
  • Provide data, reports and analysis as required to support Supply Chain, Finance and Corporate requests for information relative to E&O, inventory categorization and controls.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years work experience, with 3+ years supervising or leading people, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of integrated production and inventory management techniques and processes, inventory control, and LEAN principles and methodologies.
  • Skills/Abilities: Extensive computer skills in Excel, Access and word processing applications, experience using an ERP system, preferably Oracle, excellent organizational and process development/optimization skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, strong communications skills both verbal and written.
  • Education/Certification: BS 4-year degree in supply chain, logistics, business, or related field.
  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

  • APICS and/or ISM certifications

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment
  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE
  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes
  • Standing: 25% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task
  • Sitting: 75% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task
  • Lifting (in pounds): up to 40 pounds
  • Pushing (in pounds): up to 40 pounds
  • Mental/Visual: use of computer
  • Workspace: assembly cell
