Summary: Under direct supervision from physician/surgeon or RN, assists in the Intraoperative care of patients. This position is also responsible for a variety of cleaning, organizing and restocking duties. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Incumbent will be required to undergo on-the-job training for specific skills and competencies required in the position.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately and promptly follows instructions given by physician/surgeon or RN, when assisting them with patient care procedures. Displays respect for the patient's privacy and dignity when performing duties.
  • Recognizes emergency situations and immediately notifies physician/surgeon or RN, if neither are with the patient. Participates in self-evaluation by making notes/comments in the Accountabilities section of the annual review, updating skills checklist, and mutually setting professional goals for achievement with the manager.
  • Always reads new policies, procedures, CQI materials and memos. Attends scheduled departmental meetings and reads minutes when unable to attend.
  • Attends minimum required town hall meetings each year. Participates in continuing education/in-services/skills labs to maintain clinical competencies.
  • Ensures the proper identification of patients before transporting.

Other information: Education Requirements: High school graduate or GED. Licensure/Certification Requirements: Nursing Assistant certificate or other medical training. Professional Experience Requirements: No prior experience required.
