Patient Access Supervisor
Job DescriptionThe Patient Access Supervisor directs and supervises the Admitting and Communication departmental operation and staff activities including registration of patients, operation of the switchboard and emergency paging systems and the physician answering service. Under the general supervision of the Director the Patient Access Supervisor monitors, supervises and evaluates the activities of departmental staff in the registering of inpatients, outpatients, and emergency room patients, assuring that complete, accurate information is obtained in a courteous and professional manner. Responsible for generating complete and accurate final patient bills for all insurers. Coordinates the electronic billing system and the cashier office in the hospital. Frequent contact with admitting, communication, patient accounts, other hospital departmental staff, and hospital patients is required. Occasional contact with medical staff is necessary. The Patient Access Supervisor also completes special projects and studies such as information reports on departmental activities/functions. The Supervisor attends hospital management meetings and training and actively participates in the activities of various management, patient care, quality assurance and other related committees while regularly sharing ideas and providing recommendations on new methods and procedures.

Required Qualifications- California Fire and Life Safety Card - National Organization within 30 days of hire
- 1 year Supervisor experience.
- Bachelor's Degree Business-related field Or Formal training equivalent to a four-year college degree.
- 2 years Experience in patient accounts, admissions or patient registration activities and experience in the communications industry.
