The Director of Solutions Design is a supporting leadership role aligned by industry verticals or design discipline, responsible for managing a subset of the pursuit team to guide projects from start to finish through successful transition during startup. The incumbent leads and manages a team of Solution Design (SD) members, specializing in transportation, warehousing, or network design, and develops overall pursuit response strategy and client engagement plans. They serve as a solution design specialist, communicating designs and solutions internally and to clients using advanced analytical techniques. Responsibilities
Develop and implement pursuit response strategy and secure customer alignment. Develop, mentor, and advise SD team members on modeling and design techniques. Communicate design concepts and solutions to internal stakeholders and clients. Support bid submission by reviewing RFP documents, clarifying gaps, and formulating initial hypotheses. Meet with customers and cross‑functional bid response teams frequently. Lead consulting projects by identifying customer pain points, developing, and presenting solutions. Perform data validation, profiling, baseline development, and scenario modeling. Develop and improve engineering tools and methodologies to ensure industry best practices. Coach Solution Design team to lead cross‑functional teams and articulate value propositions. Execute onboarding and training programs for direct and indirect reports. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across functional teams, including sales pursuit processes. Travel up to 50% of the time; position is DOT regulated – no. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or Industrial Engineering. Master’s degree preferred in the same fields. Ten or more years in the Transportation industry (e.g., truckload, multi‑stop TL, LTL, intermodal, bulk, rail, or parcel services). Ten or more years in the Warehousing or Manufacturing industry. Strong data organization, cleansing, and advanced design application skills. Experience with simulation tools, transportation and warehouse management systems, ERPs, automation, MHE, and visibility tools. Ability to influence teams using facts, statistics, and analytics. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex designs. Professional relationship building across all organizational levels. Compensation
Salary range: $190,000 – $195,000. Potential eligibility for annual bonus, commission, and/or long‑term incentive plan. Benefits
