Key Job Responsibilities
Lead a variety of tasks developing 3D and 2D mechanical design and related analysis specifically for manufacturing GSE for payload satellite systems in Siemens NX.
Apply foundation in mechanical engineering suited for both prototype and production level designs, with competency on PCBA fabrication and fiber‑optic handling.
Collaborate with top‑notch engineers and multiple spacecraft design and integration teams, working with ambiguity in a fast‑paced environment with high autonomy.
Design and fabricate fixturing and tooling, perform design reviews, build, and qualify GSE.
Interact continuously with multiple HW/SW design teams and end‑users to solve emerging problems.
A Day in the Life You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, your tasks include fixturing and tooling design, design reviews, building, and qualifying.
Basic Qualifications
BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Experience with prototyping and implementation.
Experience with PCBA fabrication and electronic enclosure design.
Experience with fiber‑optic handling.
Experience with CAD design in NX and TeamCenter.
Experience in DFM/DFA and manufacturing process development.
Experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis.
Experience with production fixturing and tooling.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume.
Knowledge of Ansys Finite Element analysis tool.
5+ years of experience with development, test, deployment of aerospace systems.
Experience with specifying/justifying margins and test sequences, and qualifying space systems.
Ability to lead interdisciplinary discussions between hardware, reliability, and firmware teams to define and drive scope and clarity of work, reaching optimum system‑level trade‑offs.
Strong time and task management skills with consistent attention to detail.
Provides manufacturing decision‑making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs, reviewing production schedules, and estimating future requirements.
Use of engineering project management software such as JIRA, Confluence, or other Agile tools.
Strong communication and writing skills.

The base salary range for this position is 117,300.00 – 160,000.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
