Location: This role requires associates to be in‑office 1–2 days per week at one of Elevance Health’s Pulse Point locations in Indianapolis, IN; Norfolk, VA; Mason, OH; or Tampa, FL. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of one of these locations unless accommodations are granted as required by law. Job Level: Non‑Management Exempt | Shift: 1st Shift (United States) Responsibilities
Design and enforce secure cloud architecture patterns for AWS and Azure environments. Develop reference architectures, guardrails, and best practices aligned with enterprise security policies. Evaluate and recommend cloud‑native and third‑party security solutions. Define and drive cloud security strategy, standards, and frameworks (e.g., Zero Trust, DevSecOps). Ensure alignment with regulatory and compliance requirements (ISO27001, SOC2, NIST, etc.). Establish security baselines, policies, and conduct architectural reviews. Architect secure IAM strategies including least privilege, RBAC, ABAC, and federation. Implement identity governance across AWS and Azure (AzureAD/EntraID, IAM roles, policies). Design solutions for data encryption (at rest / in transit), key management (KMS, AzureKeyVault), and data classification. Ensure secure data handling across services, including storage, databases, and analytics platforms. Secure compute platforms (VMs, containers, serverless) using best practices and tooling. Implement security controls for Kubernetes (EKS/AKS), including runtime protections. Architect and integrate logging, monitoring, and SIEM/SOAR solutions (e.g., Sentinel, SecurityHub, Defender). Support incident response planning and cloud‑specific threat modeling. Integrate security into CI/CD pipelines through automated testing, scanning, and policy enforcement. Guide teams on secure coding practices and infrastructure‑as‑code (IaC) security. Conduct cloud risk assessments, threat modeling, and security reviews. Support audits and ensure continuous compliance posture. Partner with application, infrastructure, and security teams to drive secure adoption. Mentor engineers and influence security culture across the organization. Establish architecture oversight and planning for information and network security technologies. Lead development of an information security risk management program, including business, regulatory, industry practices, and technical considerations. Establish strategic vendor relationships for security products and services. Develop enterprise‑wide security incident response plans and strategies, integrating with business, compliance, privacy, and legal constituents. Provide advanced technical design, troubleshooting, and escalation support for complex problems. Present and secure IT and business management approval for major security technology replacements or reconfigurations. Provide technical guidance and leadership to technical engineers within the organization. Participate in the design of the enterprise architecture and propose continuous improvement opportunities. Research industry trends, regulatory environments, and recommend strategy adjustments. Participate in enterprise planning, vendor assessment, technology platform selection, and retirement prioritization. Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Requires a BS/BA in Information Technology or a related field and a minimum of 10 years of experience in systems administration and security, including access management and network security technologies, network communications, computer networking, telecommunications, systems development and management, hardware, software, data, and people. Experience with multiple technical and business disciplines or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences
8+ years of IT/security experience with at least 3–5 years focused on cloud security. Deep hands‑on experience with AWS security services (IAM, KMS, GuardDuty, Security Hub, WAF, Shield) and Azure security services (Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Key Vault, EntraID). Strong understanding of cloud networking (VPCs, VNets, private endpoints, segmentation), identity and access management principles, encryption, key management, and secrets management. Experience with DevSecOps tools and CI/CD pipelines. Knowledge of security frameworks (NIST, CIS Benchmarks, OWASP, Zero Trust). Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (or Architect Expert), CISSP, CCSP, or equivalent. Experience with Kubernetes security (EKS/AKS), infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep, CloudFormation) and cloud security posture management tools. Experience working in regulated industries (finance, healthcare, etc.). Strategic thinking and architectural design experience. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement experience. Problem‑solving and risk management experience. Ability to balance security with business agility.
