Safety Advisor

At Enbridge, we are committed to delivering safe, reliable energy while driving financial excellence and innovation. We are seeking a Safety Advisor to join our team in Houston, TX a role that sits at the heart of how we protect our people, our operations, and the communities we serve.

In this role, you will provide direct support to our corporate offices in carrying out safety program elements such as ergonomics, emergency procedures, event and hazard reporting, safety committee support, and contractor safety management. Your skills in engaging our workers will support our continuous improvement efforts and foster a strong safety culture.

What You Will Do:

  • Champion Safety Culture Promote the Enbridge Safety Culture Framework by seeking out opportunities to strengthen safety culture and supporting leadership in the execution of their role.
  • Drive Safety Compliance Execute health and safety programs to enable Enbridge to be compliant with all state and federal health and safety legislation, inspections, and investigations.
  • Manage Event Response Support the Offices and workers in event (incident) management function, including processes for reporting, investigation, management committee reviews, corrective action monitoring, and lessons learned communications.
  • Analyze and Report on Safety Trends Generate regular and ad hoc reports on specific proactive and reactive indicator metrics. Participate in small work teams on problem identification and problem-solving to support continuous improvement.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree, diploma, or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
  • 4+ years of progressively responsible health and safety experience within the energy industry. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered. For candidates who do not possess a university degree, an additional 3-years' of related experience is required (total 7+ years).
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, tactical, initiate and manage change, work collaboratively, negotiate, influence without authority, facilitate, solve problems, make decisions, work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results.
  • Proven interpersonal, communication, writing, and computer skills.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and maintenance of a responsible driving record is required which will be validated before hire.

Physical Requirements (Include but are not limited to): Grasping, kneeling, light moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, visual requirement (able to see screens, read fine print), hearing and speaking requirement, and the ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.

Mental Requirements (Both field & office) include but are not limited to: Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information; understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions; organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology; organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis; make decisions which have low impact on the company; understand and follow complex instructions and guidelines; complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda, and basic reports; and communicate with individuals via telephone and video.
