About the Role: The team's charter includes building and expanding our extensive cloud infrastructure, delivering clearly defined ways to interact with cloud resources and ensuring a uniform experience for managing these resources. Additionally, we prioritize delivering a dependable, discoverable, resilient and secure solution that our customers can depend on.
As a senior software engineer within the Cloud Control Plane, you will collaborate closely with the team and essential stakeholders to design, architect and develop our secure multi‑tenant Cloud Platform. This platform will further enable new business opportunities across Confluent (including Connect, Flink, Kafka and more).
What You Will Do: Independently drive execution of complex technical projects end to end.
Build mission‑critical backend services that deliver value to our customers. You will play a crucial role in architecting, designing, developing and operationalizing high performance, scalable, reliable and resilient services.
Troubleshoot and debug technical issues inside a deep and complex technical stack that includes microservices, containers, and virtualization.
Ensure operational readiness of the services and meet the availability and performance SLA commitments to our customers.
This job can be performed from anywhere in the US.
Required Education Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Education Master’s Degree
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Industry hands‑on experience designing, building, scaling and supporting backend systems in production with a solid grasp on good software engineering practices such as code reviews, deep focus on quality, and documentation
Strong programming and algorithmic skills. Proficiency in a major programming language, e.g. Java, Go, C / C++, Python, etc.
Experience in driving operational excellence for large, production services
A smart, humble, and empathetic attitude
A strong sense of customer centricity, teamwork, technical leadership and mentorship and are excited about team and company success
Education in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
Proven track record of leading the delivery of large‑scale, highly available, low latency, high quality systems.
Deep hands‑on technical expertise in large scale systems engineering or distributed systems
On‑call experience handling critical systems.

Projected salary: $111,000.00 – $207,000.00 per year.
