Lead Software Architect – Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Based in Tukwila, WA this role leads the design, development, and maintenance of mission‑critical software for aircraft such as the USAF E‑7A, E‑3 AWACS, and 737 Airborne Early Warning & Control. The position requires strong partnership with stakeholders to translate system‑level requirements into robust software requirements and models while maintaining traceability, safety, security, and certification standards. Responsibilities
Lead design, development, and maintenance of software systems meeting stringent quality, safety, security, and certification standards. Collaborate with stakeholders to define system requirements and translate them into software requirements and models. Conduct and review software system‑level analyses to identify risks, issues, and opportunities; lead mitigation efforts. Lead code reviews, ensuring compliance with requirements and standards. Oversee test completion, verification processes, and issue resolution. Develop program documentation as needed. Monitor product and process alignment with project plans and industry standards. Lead software project management and assist with supplier management activities. Implement current and emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks relevant to software development. Maintain a 100% onsite presence at the designated location. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree. Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance (active within the past 24 months). 9+ years of experience with software development processes. 5+ years of experience designing and developing software using Python, C/C++, C# and/or Java. 3+ years of experience in software architecture and open architectures. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science from an accredited program in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science. Minimum 9+ years of related work experience OR 13+ years of directly related experience OR 17+ years of related, relevant experience. Experience as an organization spokesperson on advanced projects and programs. Experience advising management and customers on advanced technical concepts. Experience with MIL‑STD‑6016 and MIL‑STD‑6040 systems and standards. Experience in software systems engineering within defense or aerospace sectors. Understanding of software development lifecycle and quality assurance. Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills. Additional Information
