FreeWheel is looking for passionate Software Engineer Managers to run an Engineering team and design, build, and support our high-quality, innovative video advertising platform. Responsibilities
Manages an Engineering team and collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determine integration needs. Reviews the design of new software and web applications, supports applications under development, and customizes current applications. Assists with the software update process for existing applications and roll‑outs of software releases. Participates in training representatives and operations staff on internally developed software applications. Researches, writes, and edits documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal recommendations and reports. Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature, patents, and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects. Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures, and techniques. Displays in-depth knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, skills, and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty. Displays in-depth knowledge of and ability to apply process design and redesign skills. Prepares and defends architectural, design, and technical choices to internal audiences. Leads the Engineering team through the software development lifecycle, including designing, prototyping, implementation, testing, maintenance, and technical support. Produces technical specifications and determines operational feasibility. Reviews well‑designed, testable, efficient code and other documents. Supports overall business operations and technically solves issues as they arise. Partners with global engineering, product, and operations teams to incorporate collective innovations. Qualifications
Experience with C/C++, DB design, and network programming. Experience with large system software design and development. Experience with distributed systems and mission‑critical systems. Experience managing 5–8 Engineers. Experience with Golang is a plus. Experience with Agentic AI in SDLC is a plus. Advertising industry experience is a plus. Demonstrated expertise in problem‑solving and technical innovation. Strong passion for learning and practicing new techniques. Knowledgeable about SDLC, Agile, and Software Engineering Methodology. Team‑working skills, good communication skills, willingness to work under pressure. Persistence in technical support. Ability to work closely with global teams and accept additional working time besides normal hours to meet or co‑work with global teams. Education
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred). Candidates holding relevant coursework and experience may also be considered. Experience
