About the Role
Electrical Engineer – RF and Microwave Design, on‑site at RTX locations in Andover or Tewksbury, Massachusetts. U.S. citizenship required; U.S. government security clearance (Secret) required prior to start date. Salary range: $68,900 – $131,100. Responsibilities
Design, develop, and test microwave components, cards, and system-level phased array hardware. Lead design of RF microwave components, MMIC or module products, and test fixtures at RF/microwave frequencies. Integrate and test component‑ and system‑level phased array hardware. Provide technical support to production activities. Coordinate cost and schedule management; assist with proposal writing and presentations. Travel to integration sites, customer, and subcontractor facilities as needed. Required Qualifications
STEM degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree in a related field. Experience in microwave/RF system, subsystem, and component analysis, design, and testing. Proficiency with electromagnetic simulation tools (HFSS, ADS, CST, Genesys, Mentor Graphics Xpedition Cadence Virtuoso) and analytical tools (Matlab). Experience with basic RF calculations and cascaded analysis. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Understanding of translating system requirements to component level. Experience with GaAs and/or GaN MMIC devices and layout verification using Cadence Virtuoso. Preferred Qualifications
Background designing and testing analog CCA (signal conversion, AGC, amplifier, filter). Electrical interconnects and transmission line design experience. Knowledge of RF layout techniques from HF to X-Band and EMI mitigation. Strong academic background in Microwave Engineering, Systems, Electromagnetic Theory, Radar Systems. Hands‑on microwave testing experience with VNAs, RSAs, PNAs, spectrum analyzers. Technical writing, proposal writing, and presentation experience. Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
