As an Associate Director in Software Engineering, you will provide leadership and guidance to multiple related departments, driving the strategic direction and implementation of software solutions. You will ensure that departments meet their performance objectives and deliver innovative products that enhance business operations. Responsibilities
Make critical decisions related to project prioritization, resource allocation, and technical approaches. Effectively communicate in a matrixed organization with supervisors, peers, and subordinates to ensure alignment and collaboration within the organization. Foster the development of strong and cohesive software engineering teams, encouraging collaboration and mutual support. Establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships within the team and across departments. Monitor development processes, framework adoption, and project surroundings to ensure adherence to modern architectural patterns and standards. Conduct performance evaluations of team members to recognize achievements and identify areas for improvement. Lead and manage a team of software engineers, providing guidance, direction, and motivation to achieve team goals. Solve complex problems and provide innovative solutions to overcome technical challenges in product development. Develop objectives and strategies for software projects in alignment with overall business objectives. Coach and develop team members, providing opportunities for skill growth and career advancement. Evaluate information and software products to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices. Estimate the resources required for projects and collaborate with other departments to meet project needs. Skills
Product Software Engineering: Design, develop, test, and deploy software products, understanding user needs, defining functional specifications, designing system architecture, coding, debugging, ensuring product quality, and working with diverse teams. Artificial Intelligence: Deploy AI technologies within the SDLC and customer-facing applications, developing agents, flows, guard rails, rubrics, and oversight mechanisms. Cloud Computing: Utilize and manage applications, data, and services on cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), setting up cloud-based platforms for business environments. Frameworks: Understand, utilize, and create structured environments for software development, leveraging existing frameworks to streamline processes. Application Security: Protect applications from threats and attacks by identifying, fixing, and preventing security vulnerabilities. Architectural Patterns: Understand, analyze, and apply predefined design solutions to structural problems in architecture and software development. APIs: Design, develop, and manage Application Programming Interfaces, maintain high-quality documentation, implement API security practices, and perform API testing. Performance and Automation: Design, implement, manage, and optimize automated systems or processes using various software tools and technologies. DevOps: Coordinate between development and operations teams to improve and accelerate software development processes via automation, continuous delivery, agility, and rapid feedback response. Analysis: Examine complex situations or problems, break them into smaller parts, and understand interrelationships. Problem Solving: Define problems, identify potential strategies, and adopt the most effective solution. People Management: Lead, motivate, engage, and communicate effectively with a team, handling delegation, conflict resolution, negotiation, and team dynamics. Agile: Respond to changes swiftly and effectively with continuous improvement and flexibility, promoting adaptive planning and rapid responses. Implementation and Delivery: Translate plans and designs into action, oversee delivery of projects or services, and ensure timely and efficient completion.
