Responsibilities
Ensures smooth operation of the counter sales function within a branch location.
Oversees day‑to‑day sales activities for the branch, coordinating the flow of orders and communications between the counter and the warehouse team.
Maintains good working relationships with customers and keeps staff apprised of sales and promotional programs.
Provides staff with training, coaching, and performance reviews.
Helps the Branch Manager with staffing, budgeting, and fulfillment of financial objectives.
Fosters a cohesive, productive team through collaboration and inclusive teamwork.
Ensures customers receive prompt, professional service in person and over the phone.
Communicates effectively between counter sales and warehouse teams for accurate order fulfillment.
Conducts regular inventory counts and replenishes shelves as needed.
Works with Outside Sales to determine customer needs and implement sales programs and promotions.
Ensures pricing structure is followed and records maintained; balances receipts daily.
Maintains showroom cleanliness, appearance, and merchandising to support sales goals.
Resolves customer complaints in a timely, professional manner and de‑escalates disputes.
Implements a deep knowledge of HVAC/R fundamentals to aid customers with product selection.
Cross‑trains in warehouse duties such as receiving, shipping, and picking.
Conducts interviews, recommends hiring, and delivers performance reviews.
Communicates branch leadership messages to the counter sales team.
Provides cover for management when absent.
Ensures a safe workplace and safeguards cash and assets; reports fraud or security concerns.
May open and close the store as required.
Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED; 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination. Experience must include front counter waiting on customers.
Minimum of 1 year working in a lead or supervisory capacity in a wholesale/retail environment, preferably in HVAC/R or related industry.
Experience operating forklift and other warehouse equipment safely and competently.
Experience with OSHA and safety regulations and procedures.
Preferred: Experience using ERP software in a warehouse environment.
Preferred: Knowledge of HVAC/R wholesale industry, principles, and practices.
Certifications
Forklift certification required, or willingness to obtain on the job.

Comprehensive knowledge of Johnstone catalog and HVAC/R products.
Strong customer service skills; ability to read, calculate margins, discounts and percentages.
Analytical skills to evaluate ROI; familiarity with training assessment tools.
Ability to run a point‑of‑sale terminal, research items, and prepare sales and customer reports.
Proficiency with computers, ERP, RF equipment, and Microsoft Office.
Skill in operating forklift, pallet jack, cherry picker, or lift gate safely.
Ability to lift, push, pull, and maneuver large/heavy products safely.
Works with minimal supervision under stressful conditions.
Leadership ability to motivate team members based on company goals.
Effective communication across departments and external parties.
Knowledge of human resource management principles for hiring, training, coaching, and disciplining.
Organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Problem‑solving skills; ability to diagnose and resolve issues.
Polished and professional demeanour online and via phone.
Ability to follow written instructions and complete paperwork.
Fluency in English; multilingual skills are valued.
Physical Demand Employee is required to sit, stand, and walk on a concrete floor for most of the workday, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must lift and carry up to 50 pounds, or more with mechanical assistance, and may drive for long periods with vibration. Special vision requirements include near, distance, peripheral, and color vision.
