Carrollton Elementary School Assistant Principal 2026-2027 School Year
Summary of the Position: To assist the elementary school principal in providing leadership to organize, administer, supervise, and evaluate the school program. Primary responsibilities will be coordinating disciplinary programming, evaluating teachers, and supporting the elementary school principal.
Reports To: Elementary School Principal and Superintendent
Compensation: Salary and benefits are established in accordance with the Carrollton Public Schools Administrative Contract.
Required Qualifications: Must have at least five years of teaching experience. Must hold a Master's degree or above in education. Must hold a current administrative certificate. Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to work as part of a team. Must have experience working with at-risk students and their parents. Must have knowledge and experience in school improvement/MiCIP. Must satisfactorily pass: Must receive a satisfactory response to 4205-F Authorization for Release of Information and Employee History Check Under 1996 P.A.189 of 1996; MCL380.1230b. Law enforcement background checks with fingerprinting. Personal and professional reference background check. Must possess or be willing to complete training in Restorative Justice Practices, CPI Certification, and Adult/Infant/CPR/First Aid Certified. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Essential Job Functions: Consistently and fairly administer student discipline utilizing restorative justice practices in accordance with the Student Handbook, Board Policies, and district procedures. Develop, implement, and monitor programs designed to address chronic absenteeism and improve student attendance. Provide parent education and support related to student attendance, behavior, and academic success. Support and strengthen the building's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework and other behavior intervention systems, including leading a building-wide PBIS Team and completing an annual SWPBIS TFI Ensure a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment for all students. Assist students as needed, including lifting and providing physical assistance when appropriate. Support teachers in implementing effective classroom management and instructional practices. Collaborate with staff to improve student achievement through data-informed decision-making. Assist the principal with classroom observations, teacher evaluations, and instructional coaching utilizing the Danielson Framework for Teaching. Support the implementation of school improvement initiatives and building-level academic goals. Assist the principal in administering district and school policies, procedures, and programs. Ability to schedule, oversee, and evaluate paraprofessionals Develop and lead teams to effectively implement building-level initiatives and improvement efforts. Assist with ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and reporting requirements. Attend, supervise, and lead evening and weekend school events as assigned. Develop and implement programs that support family engagement and strengthen school-community partnerships. Maintain confidentiality regarding student, parent, and personnel information. Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in all interactions. Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members. Exhibit strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills. Work effectively as a self-directed and self-motivated member of the administrative team. Utilize technology and internet-based resources effectively to support school operations and continuous improvement. Welcome and assist visitors in a courteous, professional, and helpful manner. Maintain a positive attitude while working with all stakeholders of Carrollton Public Schools. Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal and/or Superintendent. Must satisfactorily complete: 4205-F Authorization for Release of Information and Employee History Check pursuant to Public Act 189 of 1996 (MCL 380.1230b). Criminal history and fingerprint background check. Personal and professional reference checks.
