We are looking for a Fiber Technical Specialist to be responsible for the installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic and telecommunications infrastructure. This position will be full-time and onsite in Pompano Beach, FL.
Shift: Mon - Fri | 7am to 4pm
What You'll Do
The Fiber Technical Specialist is a senior-level field and technical role responsible for the installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic and telecommunications infrastructure
The role requires advanced troubleshooting expertise, strong knowledge of fiber systems and network principles, and the ability to independently execute complex installations and infrastructure modifications
The specialist is also responsible for maintaining service levels, minimizing downtime, and supporting infrastructure projects while adhering to safety standards
This position operates with a high degree of autonomy and may train other field technicians and provide technical guidance
What You'll Need
Minimum 10 years of experience in fiber optics installation, telecommunications, or network field services
Extensive experience in fiber splicing, testing, and infrastructure maintenance
Proven experience troubleshooting complex network and service issues
Experience working in high-volume field service environments (installations, repairs, and infrastructure projects)
Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead technical efforts
Advanced knowledge of fiber optic systems, including splicing, termination, and testing
Strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure
Solid knowledge of network principles (LAN/WAN, routing, switching)
Understanding of RF fundamentals in telecommunications environments
Familiarity with cloud and modern IT environments (preferred)
Advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis
Proficiency with fiber tools (fusion splicer, OTDR, fiber test equipment)
Ability to install and maintain high-volume fiber services efficiently
Strong project execution and organizational skills
Effective written and verbal communication
Customer service and consultative skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 tools
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to manage multiple installations and repairs
Ability to follow technical documentation and service orders accurately
Ability to analyze problems and implement effective solutions
Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting 50 lbs
Ability to maintain attention to detail in high-volume work environments
Valid driver’s license
Ability to obtain OSHA 10 certification within one (1) year
Preferred:
Fiber Optics Certification (e.g., FOA or equivalent)
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or equivalent cloud certification
CompTIA Network+ or similar networking certification
Additional safety or telecommunications training
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

$35 - $37 per hourThe pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
