Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $125,000 – $145,000
Base pay plus bonus
Monday–Friday daytime hours
Frequent regional travel (up to 50% of work time); some overnight travel required

Overview The Sales Manager, Bulk Gases is responsible for managing bulk sales, including tactical execution of the bulk growth strategy, direct management of Bulk Sales Specialists, and driving the profitable growth of the bulk product line.
Responsibilities
Drive safety within the sales organization and ensure bulk specialists perform safely at Airgas and customer sites.
Contribute to the development of the regional growth strategy, including key target markets, products, and applications.
Develop and implement launch plans for new targets identified as part of the growth strategy; train the sales team and adhere to pricing guidelines.
Act as the primary contact with strategic accounts for new/renewal opportunities.
Set sales targets per specialist and work with each specialist to develop and execute a growth plan within his assigned territory.
Manage productivity and activity of the sales team through communication, training, and coaching; monitor key metrics.
Champion Track Selling and promote a value‑based selling philosophy within the team.
Conduct lessons‑learned reviews for lost or failed business and adjust strategy accordingly.
Serve as chief sales strategist in selected situations, engaging directly in selling efforts for key accounts.
Interface regularly with Area Vice Presidents and District Managers to ensure quality service and address service issues.
Monitor competitor offers, market trends, pricing, and potential bulk business opportunities and threats.
Provide feedback to bulk specialists to support professional growth and sales effectiveness.
Ensure new employees receive comprehensive onboarding and training.
Support additional projects and initiatives as assigned.
Perform other related duties as necessary to meet organizational needs.
Required Qualifications
Minimum five (5) years of increasing responsibility in B2B sales or sales operations, including team management or comparable experience in the gases industry. Track record of profitable sales growth required.
Reliable, appropriate transportation for frequent visits to Airgas and customer sites.
Strong leadership skills and capability to develop and manage a high‑performing sales team.
Analytical ability to develop successful sales strategies and increase customer wallet share.
Knowledge of business and accounting concepts, including ROI, P&L, balance sheets, and margin calculations.
A rigorous, change‑oriented mindset with a sense of urgency.
Strong interpersonal skills for influencing others and creating cross‑functional alignment.
Excellent communication abilities, especially in developing action plans and ensuring accountability.
Effective oral and written presentation skills to all levels of management.
Preferred Qualifications
Four‑year college degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Sales Management, Engineering, or related field (equivalent experience considered).
Working knowledge of SAP.
