Position Overview Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structural Design Engineer to join their team in New Castle, PA. This full-time, on-site role is responsible for the design, analysis, and development of steel door systems and related structural components. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, project management, fabrication, and installation teams to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective design solutions that meet project requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design and analyze steel door systems and structural components in accordance with project specifications, safety regulations, and applicable engineering standards.
Develop detailed engineering drawings, models, and fabrication documents using CAD software.
Perform structural calculations and evaluations to verify design integrity, performance, and compliance.
Collaborate with project managers, fabrication personnel, and external stakeholders to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and aligned with project objectives.
Review customer requirements, architectural plans, and engineering specifications to develop effective design solutions.
Prepare technical documentation, reports, and supporting materials for project execution and compliance purposes.
Assist with project cost estimates by providing technical input and material requirements.
Participate in design reviews, quality assurance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues that arise during fabrication, assembly, or field installation.
Contribute to the development and enhancement of engineering standards, processes, and best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, steel design, and structural analysis methodologies.
Experience applying relevant building codes, engineering standards, and construction practices.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and other CAD software for 2D and 3D design and detailing.
Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings and convert concepts into manufacturable designs.
Familiarity with steel design standards such as AISC and experience with structural analysis/calculation software is preferred.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and field teams.
Experience in industrial, defense, specialty door systems, or enclosure design environments is an advantage.
