Key responsibilities and accountabilities The Estimator & Sales Engineer is responsible for estimating, designing, and selling building automation systems (BAS) for commercial, industrial, and institutional clients. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, sales acumen, and project management skills to ensure accurate system designs, competitive bids, and successful project outcomes. The objective is to develop accurate cost estimates for building automation projects, including system design, installation, and integration. One must promote the sale of ABC products and services to organizations with or without building automation systems. The focus will be to obtain sales orders by contacting the owner’s representatives, consulting engineers, and mechanical contractors on all phases of selling equipment, service, and service products. Analyze project requirements, plans, and specifications to create detailed proposals.
Identify material, labor, and subcontractor costs to ensure competitive and profitable pricing.
Review and assess the scope of work, building codes, and client requirements.
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure bid accuracy and feasibility.
Build relationships with new and existing clients to generate leads and increase sales opportunities.
Present BAS solutions to clients, explaining technical benefits, return on investment (ROI), and energy efficiency features.
Understand client needs and provide customized solutions that meet technical and budgetary requirements.
Participate in meetings, presentations, and negotiations with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors.
Follow up with clients to ensure satisfaction and identify potential upsell opportunities.
Ensure the obtainment of new equipment, service and sales growth, mix, and profit objectives.
Answer customers’ questions about products, prices, availability, product uses, and credit terms.
Maintain a current knowledge of product design and applications to ensure they are sold properly.
Maintain and promote a favorable company image to customers through courteous and helpful service.
Identify prospective customers by using business directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in organizations and clubs, and attending trade shows and conferences.
Qualifications B.S. degree is required, mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred, or 3 years or more of sales experience within the HVAC or Controls industry. We do not offer sponsorship, so legal US work status is required.

The salary range is $55,000 - $60,000 for entry level and higher depending upon professional experience and educational background.
