Company: Growing Kent-based logistics and technology business
Location: Manston
Reports to: Senior management / finance and technology leadership
Role type: Full-time
*Join a fast-moving Kent-based logistics and technology business and help us build smarter ways of working!*
This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on, tech-curious problem solver who wants to make a real impact. The business is growing, investing in better systems, and looking for someone who enjoys using technology, automation and modern digital tools to make everyday work faster, smoother and more efficient.
We are looking for someone with energy, initiative and a genuine interest in where technology is heading. If you enjoy fixing problems, learning quickly, supporting people and spotting better ways to do things, this could be a brilliant role to grow into.
*Role Overview*
We are looking for an enthusiastic IT Systems & Automation Specialist to support internal IT operations, Microsoft 365 administration, device setup, user support, cyber security awareness and practical automation-led process improvement.
This is a varied role for someone who enjoys getting stuck in, taking ownership and making technology work better for people. You will help keep day-to-day IT running smoothly while also supporting digital improvements across the business. You will work closely with senior management and internal technology colleagues to improve processes, document common tasks and help develop smarter, more connected ways of working. Further detail about the company, systems, projects and longer-term technology plans will be discussed with suitable candidates during the interview process.
*Key Responsibilities*
*IT Support & Systems Administration*
· Set up laptops, desktops, printers, phones and other business devices for new and existing staff.
· Create, manage and remove Microsoft 365 user accounts, email accounts, OneDrive access and permissions.
· Administer Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and other Microsoft 365 services.
· Provide friendly, practical day-to-day IT support to staff, including hardware, software, email, login and connectivity issues.
· Manage IT onboarding and offboarding for employees, making the process smooth, secure and well organised.
· Keep clear records of devices, users, licences, passwords, permissions and IT assets.
· Liaise with external IT providers, suppliers and software partners where required.
· Create simple, useful documentation for common IT processes and support tasks.
*IT Security & Compliance*
· Help improve and maintain sensible cyber security standards across the business.
· Manage user access, permissions, password policies and multi-factor authentication.
· Monitor and maintain antivirus, endpoint protection and device security.
· Help ensure company data is stored, shared and backed up securely.
· Review and improve OneDrive, SharePoint and email security settings.
· Support backup, disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
· Spot IT risks early and recommend practical, realistic improvements.
· Help the business work towards stronger recognised cyber security and compliance standards where appropriate.
*Automation & Process Improvement*
· Work with management and internal technology colleagues to identify opportunities for smarter systems, automation and digital process improvements.
· Use modern tools and a curious mindset to help reduce manual work and improve operational visibility.
· Assist with automation across areas such as operations, administration, customer service, reporting and internal communication.
· Help connect business systems such as Microsoft 365, email, spreadsheets, CRM platforms and other operational tools.
· Assist with data collection, reporting, dashboards and better process visibility.
· Support the continued development and improvement of internal business systems.
· Help introduce new tools and processes securely, responsibly and in a way that makes life easier for staff.
· Train and support staff when new systems, automations or process improvements are introduced.
*Skills and Experience*
· Experience in IT support, systems administration, IT security, automation, software support or a similar technical role.
· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams and SharePoint.
· Experience setting up and managing Windows computers, users, devices and permissions.
· Understanding of cyber security best practices, including MFA, endpoint protection, backups and access control.
· Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, network, email and login issues in a calm and practical way.
· Experience with automation platforms, scripting, APIs, reporting tools, databases, AI tools or web-based business applications would be advantageous.
· Ability to understand how people work and suggest technology improvements that are actually useful.
· Experience working with external IT providers, suppliers or internal system transitions would be helpful.
· Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA, Cyber Essentials or similar would be useful but are not essential.
*Personal Qualities*
· Enthusiastic, practical, proactive and keen to learn.
· Trustworthy, reliable and security conscious.
· Naturally curious about technology, automation, AI tools and smarter ways of working.
· Comfortable supporting staff with different levels of technical ability.
· Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Able to explain technical matters clearly to non-technical colleagues.
· Organised and capable of documenting processes properly.
· Interested in improving business efficiency, not just maintaining systems.
