Responsibilities
Interpret mutational and molecular genetic testing to guide chemotherapeutic agent prescribing
Complete life sustaining therapy conferences with patients and family members
Assess, stabilize, and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions; treat diseases and disorders of the blood, spleen, lymph glands, and immunologic system, such as anemia, clotting disorders, sickle cell disease, hemophilia, leukemia, and lymph nodes
Administration of chemotherapeutic agents and biological response modifiers through all therapeutic routes
Apheresis procedures
Analyze blood tests manually including blood count, including platelets and white cell differential
Diagnostic lumbar puncture
Performing bone marrow aspirates, bone marrow biopsies, and touch preparations as well as interpretation of bone marrow biopsies
Diagnostic and Therapeutic paracentesis
Management of indwelling venous access catheters
Therapeutic thoracentesis
Qualifications
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed
Active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia

Physical Requirements
Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
Lift up to 20 lbs
Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
