Summary: The Coordinator for World Languages is responsible for assisting the Learning and Teaching Department in the planning, implementation, and assessment of Grade K-12 World Languages curriculum and instruction.
Essential Duties:
- Facilitates curriculum development and implementation of instructional services for the Grade K-12 World Languages Program
- Manages the selection of instructional materials, supplies, textbooks, technology, and equipment needed to support the implementation of the Grade K-12 World Languages curriculum
- Designs and delivers training to administrators and teachers in providing feedback to students to improve delivery of instruction
- Collaborates with the Director, Social Studies to develop the annual budget relating to the World Languages Program for grades K-12
- Coordinates with Budget to develop formulas, determine enrollment, and calculate appropriate World Languages allotments for all elementary, middle, and high schools, including charters
- Supports Curriculum Department with ongoing communication around World Languages events, strategies, and opportunities for World Languages teachers
- Works in collaboration with other departments and areas to maximize teacher effectiveness as it relates to the World Languages curriculum, instruction, and assessment for grades K-12
- Provides individual assistance to schools with curricular, instructional, and assessment needs
- Collaborates with the Human Resources Department and local/national professional networks to recruit World Languages teachers
- Serves as a liaison between the Division of Academics and teacher quality in all issues related to instructional best practices that are aligned to performance management standards for teachers
- Assists principals in hiring qualified World Language teachers
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
Required Education: Master's Degree in Education or in the area of World Languages
Certification/Licensure: Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in the area of World Languages or related field. Georgia Leadership Certification strongly preferred.
Experience Qualifications: Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience and 3 additional years of classroom teaching experience required; Experience in the administration of budgets preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Detailed knowledge and experience with standards-based instruction and assessment best practices
- Experience with curriculum development
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners across multiple disciplines and levels
- Demonstrated knowledge in differentiation and meeting the needs of varied learners
- Ability to plan and implement short and long-range goals and objectives
- Ability to work with collaborative teams
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent interpersonal skills needed to work effectively with administrators, staff, and community members
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Will require travel between schools. Physical Demands: Routine physical activity associated with normal office environment. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
