The Applied Systems Laboratory (ASL) Systems Integration Division (SID) supports systems integration, system design, and product development projects for the Department of Defense (DoD) systems. SID researches military systems specializing in avionics, electronic warfare, autonomous systems, intelligence systems, tactical communication/datalink systems; and live, virtual, constructive training solutions. The SID team's engineering roles include Systems Engineering, Algorithm Engineering, Datalink Engineering, and Embedded Software Engineering. SID is seeking an intern for the Fall 2026 semester. The student will work under the guidance of GTRI researchers performing one or more of the following activities: Creation of software requirements Design of software components Implementation of embedded software Integration and test of embedded software Creation of software technical data packages Required Minimum Qualifications
Intern Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computational Science and Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering. 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA Part‑Time Intern – Must be registered for 6+ credit hours Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Python. Experience developing software in C/C++. Experience with embedded systems software development. Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas to a non‑technical audience. Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts. Hours per Week
20 hours per week U.S. Citizenship Requirements
Due to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position are required to be U.S. Citizens. Clearance Type Required
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance. Housing and Relocation
