The selected candidate will support the administration, sustainment, analysis, migration, and modernization of large-scale Oracle database environments while assisting with the transition to PostgreSQL-based architectures supporting modern enterprise applications.
This position requires both operational DBA experience and modernization expertise, including legacy database analysis, schema conversion, migration planning, performance tuning, and support for enterprise application modernization efforts in classified environments.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties
Administer and maintain enterprise Oracle database environments supporting mission-critical applications
Analyze existing database structures, stored procedures, triggers, and operational workflows
Support transition and sustainment activities for legacy application environments
Design and implement PostgreSQL database architectures for modernized applications
Assist with Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration planning and execution
Develop database migration strategies, scripts, and validation procedures
Perform database performance tuning, indexing, and optimization
Support backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery planning
Collaborate with software engineers, architects, DevSecOps personnel, and infrastructure teams
Support development, test, and production database environments
Assist with CI/CD and automated deployment activities related to database changes
Create and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures
Participate in Agile development and modernization activities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience with High School Diploma
7+ years of database administration experience
Strong Oracle database administration experience
Experience with PostgreSQL administration and development
Experience with Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration activities
Experience with SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures, triggers, and performance tuning
Experience supporting enterprise production systems
Experience with Windows-based server environments
Experience with backup and recovery strategies
Experience with database security and access controls
Experience supporting Agile development teams
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
U.S. Citizenship required
Clearance Requirement
TS/SCI security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting federal government classified environments
Experience with enterprise application modernization projects
Experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines
Experience with database migration tools and automation frameworks
Experience with large-scale document or records management systems
Experience with replication, failover, and high-availability database architecture
