Each Systems Administrator will be assigned:
Primary Domain Ownership – Accountable for architecture support, configuration standards, lifecycle management, documentation, vendor coordination, and operational health of assigned systems.
Secondary Domain Support – Cross‑trained to provide backup coverage, assist during outages, and support project work in additional domains.
Primary and secondary assignments may include, but are not limited to:
Infrastructure & Virtualization
Telecom & Voice Services
Security & Compliance Systems
Assignments are operationally defined and may evolve based on organizational needs.
JOB SPECIFIC CORE COMPETENCIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administer physical and virtual server environments (Windows and/or Linux)
Perform lifecycle management including provisioning, patching, upgrades, and decommissioning
Support Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file services, and system monitoring
Lead or support high availability, failover, and disaster recovery planning
Conduct capacity planning and performance optimization
Cloud & Identity Administration
Administer Azure tenant, subscriptions, and resource groups
Manage Azure AD (Entra ID), identity lifecycle, MFA, and Conditional Access, SSO
Support hybrid identity and directory synchronization
Monitor cloud performance, availability, and service health
Support cloud migrations and modernization initiatives
Administer Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online environments
Manage mail flow, connectors, transport rules, and routing
Maintain email security standards (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
Configure and support Microsoft Defender for Office 365
Support retention, archiving, legal hold, and compliance requirements
Troubleshoot complex mail delivery and service health issues
Administer and optimize VoIP and collaboration platforms (e.g., Zoom Phone)
Manage call routing, dial plans, auto attendants, and carrier integrations
Maintain E911 compliance and perform routine validation/testing
Monitor call quality and troubleshoot end-to-end voice performance
Partner with networking to ensure QoS and bandwidth optimization
Lead Windows endpoint provisioning and lifecycle management
Manage configuration profiles and application deployments
Enforce security policies (BitLocker, Defender, device compliance)
Oversee update rings and feature update lifecycle
Maintain device inventory and asset tracking
Storage, Backup & Resilience
Configure and maintain backup and recovery solutions
Perform restore testing and document recovery procedures
Support replication and offsite/cloud backup strategies
Security, Compliance & Governance
Apply system hardening and security best practices
Support vulnerability remediation and patch management
Maintain compliance with regulatory and healthcare standards
Assist with audit preparation and documentation
Operations & Support
Serve as technical owner for assigned primary systems
Provide escalation support for complex incidents
Participate in change management and maintenance windows
Document configurations, procedures, and recovery processes
Coordinate with vendors and third‑party partners
Participate in 24x7 on‑call rotation

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
3+ years of experience in systems administration or infrastructure support
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field preferred.
Equivalent combination of education, professional certifications, and progressively responsible experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience in one or more enterprise IT domains (infrastructure, cloud, messaging, telecom, or endpoints)
Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls)
Experience supporting regulated environments preferred
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Microsoft, VMware, Azure, or relevant platform certifications
Experience with automation or scripting (e.g., PowerShell)
Experience in healthcare or similarly regulated industries
ADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Mandatory Continuing Education: Customer Service, Fire and Safety, Corporate Compliance (including Confidentiality), Infection Control, and education required by regulatory, accreditation bodies, scope of practice, and/or Hancock Regional Hospital.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
Lift 25 lbs. from floor to waist height, and carry for distances up to 50 feet
Reaching overhead and squatting to stock office supplies weighing up to 10 lbs. (examples: reams of paper, boxes of folders)
Sit to and from, stand at office chair
Vision requirements include but are not limited to close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. EQUIPMENT USED: Personal Computer Microsoft Office Suite Meditech Software Telephone Printer Other Data Extraction Software - SQL Databases, Data Queries etc.
Works inside in a controlled area.
Work is 2/3 sedentary.
Occasionally lifts boxes of paper for printer.
Visual acuity in working with figures and printed reports.
Ability to manage multiple tasks with multiple priorities.
