As a Network & Communication Engineer, you are responsible for designing, managing and optimizing DEME’s global network infrastructure, ensuring reliable and secure connectivity between offices, vessels and remote project sites worldwide – from HQ to offshore environments. Key Responsibilities Design, implement and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN and VPN networks. Ensure reliable and secure connectivity between offices, vessels and remote project sites worldwide. Manage and optimize network components such as switches, routers, firewalls and WiFi. Monitor network performance and proactively resolve incidents and issues. Take ownership of network-related projects and contribute to improvements and new initiatives. Help define and standardise the global network setup across DEME. Perform upgrades, patching and lifecycle management of network and security solutions. Act as a point of contact for more complex network and communication challenges. Work closely with internal IT teams, business stakeholders and external partners. Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation of configurations and network architecture. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent through experience. At least 5 years of experience in network and communication infrastructure. Strong knowledge of routing & switching (e.g., Aruba), firewalls & security (e.g., Fortinet), WiFi, VPN technologies and network monitoring. Experience with ticketing tools such as ServiceNow is a plus. Ability to take ownership and initiative for improvements or projects. Comfortable speaking up and challenging ideas constructively. Hands‑on, pragmatic and solution‑oriented approach. Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Comfortable working in an international environment and fluent in English (Dutch a plus). Willingness to occasionally travel is a plus, but not mandatory.
