DescriptionPosition Overview
The Arizona Organizing Director will lead and oversee organizing initiatives focused on community engagement, leadership development, grassroots mobilization, and issue advocacy throughout the state. This role will lead the development and execution of strategic organizing campaigns that grow a base of community members and leaders to build long-term community power and increase civic participation within Latino communities.
The Organizing Director will supervise organizing staff, drive campaign planning and lead execution, collaborate with communications, data, and program teams, and ensure accountability around organizing goals and metrics. This position requires a strong, strategic leader with experience managing and organizing programs, supervising staff, and working within fast-paced community-based or electoral environments.
Campaign Planning & Organizing Strategy- Work closely with the Arizona State Director to develop and implement organizing strategies and campaigns aligned with organizational priorities and campaign goals.
- Collaborate with Data, Communications, Development, and Program teams to support coordinated campaign execution.
- Work with the Field Director to integrate electoral work and leaders into year-round organizing.
- Set goals and achieve metrics on organizing and campaign performance to ensure accountability and effectiveness.
- Analyze community feedback and organize data to identify opportunities for growth and strategic adjustments.
- Build and maintain relationships with community members, coalition partners, local organizations, and stakeholders.
- Develop and supervise organizing staff to recruit, engage, and develop community leaders in their respective campaigns and programs. Lead community meetings, training sessions, events, and outreach activities, and develop staff to lead them.
- Ensure organizing work remains community-centered and responsive to local needs and priorities.
- Supervise and support organizing staff and leaders.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable team culture.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development support to organizing staff.
- Assist with developing staff training, onboarding, and performance management processes.
- Promote compliance with organizational policies, safety protocols, and voter engagement regulations.
- Lead the integration of electoral leaders and supporters into the year-round organizing programs.
- Work with the Field Director to connect year-round organizing issues with electoral work, weave the issues into electoral trainings, and politicize electoral staff.
- Lead rapid response organizing and mobilization efforts as needed, particularly in the areas of Democracy Defense and Election Protection.
- Minimum 35 years of organizing, community engagement, electoral, or campaign experience.
- Minimum 2 years of staff supervision or team leadership experience preferred.
- Experience in managing and organizing programs or community-based campaigns.
- Ability to supervise organizers with different skill sets and at different points in their career development.
- Experience managing teams to set and hit goals.
- Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience working in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
- Experience in developing leaders and moving volunteers through a ladder of engagement
- Familiarity with voter databases, CRMs, or organizing tools such as VAN/EveryAction preferred.
- Deep commitment to civic engagement, social justice, and Latino community empowerment.
- Bilingual English/Spanish required.
- Based in Phoenix, with monthly travel to Tucson.
