Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Demonstrated proficiency in medical record analysis and ICD-10/CPT-4 coding methodology. At least one of the following is required: Certified Professional Coder (CPC-P OR CPC-H) OR Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) OR Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) OR Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) OR Certified Outpatient Coder (COC). Minimum of 5 years coding experience in an acute care hospital collecting, classifying, coding and reporting clinical data. Thorough understanding of coding guidelines and ability to use appropriate reference materials. Demonstrated ability to solve problems, work independently, and/or additional responsibilities. Effective communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Health Information Management or related field. Proficiency in more than one area of coding. Experience using EPIC electronic health record. Experience using 3M computer assisted encoder. NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $63,935.04 - $82,680.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
