Job Summary Performs information technology audit work, including planning and executing audits of information systems, evaluating IT controls, identifying risks, and providing recommendations to improve security, efficiency, and compliance. Works under close supervision (IT Auditor I) or general supervision (IT Auditor II) and uses audit software tools. Supports financial and performance audits with technical data extraction and validation.
Essential Job Functions
Plan and conduct IT audits of automated systems, assessing effectiveness of controls and compliance with standards.
Review documentation, system access logs, and workflows to evaluate IT controls and backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
Perform IT security control reviews, including user access, system configuration, encryption, and cybersecurity protocols.
Participate in application and internal control reviews of core business systems.
Document audit findings, prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
Use audit software to create diagrams, flowcharts, and data mapping visuals.
Collaborate with audit and IT teams to support financial, case‑management, and HR system audits.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of Information Systems Audit Standards, Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards, Global Internal Audit Standards, NIST RMF, Texas Cybersecurity Framework, and COBIT.
Skill in data collection, analytical software tools, interview techniques, and system testing.
Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and apply audit standards to practical situations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, technology or related field (Master’s preferred).
Two years of full‑time experience in auditing, accounting, MIS, QA, process improvement, or compliance.
Certifications: Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred; CISA/CISSP/CIA required if stated.
Experience with audit software, data analytics, and technical documentation.
