Apple’s Events, Streaming and Broadcast Services (ESB) team is looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our team. Our team manages and maintains the software development for Events and streaming applications – both frontend and backend, the infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines and related tooling.
In this role you will support engineering teams and provide operational support for large‑scale backend systems deployed across hybrid cloud environments such as Kubernetes on AWS and on‑premise infrastructure. You will champion automation, cloud‑native technologies, operational excellence, and leverage AI to transform software delivery.
Description The ESB team provides cloud‑based infrastructure for multiple backend production systems that enable applications and services that touch thousands of internal and external users. As a DevOps Engineer you will design, implement, and maintain critical infrastructure and automation, enhance CI/CD capabilities, manage Kubernetes deployments across multi‑cloud and on‑prem environments, and develop custom tools to boost developer efficiency. You will also explore and integrate generative AI to optimize processes.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain critical infrastructure and automation for large‑scale backend systems.
Provide expert operational support for systems deployed across hybrid cloud environments, including Kubernetes on AWS and on‑premise infrastructure.
Configure, maintain, and monitor CI/CD infrastructure, including physical and virtual machines.
Continuously develop, enhance, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to improve software delivery.
Manage and scale Kubernetes deployments across multi‑cloud and on‑prem environments.
Develop custom tooling and scripts to boost developer efficiency and streamline workflows.
Collaborate closely with engineering teams to improve integration, release, and deployment processes.
Research, evaluate, and integrate innovative technologies, including generative AI, to optimize DevOps processes and drive efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in Software Development.
5+ years of experience as a DevOps engineer.
5+ years of experience in Python or other languages.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, and Configuration as Code.
Experience with SDLC, including Continuous Integration and Agile development practices.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code systems like Pulumi and Terraform.
Experience with DevOps tools like Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, Grafana, and GitOps.
Experience developing Microservices and REST APIs.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or GCE.
Strong debugging and problem‑solving skills.
Experience with development environments such as Xcode and Swift.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate.
Comfortable and adaptable in a high‑paced environment.
Detail‑oriented, analytical, methodical, and creative thinker committed to driving quality forward.
Self‑motivated, passionate about DevOps, enjoys a steep learning curve.
Hands‑on experience in Gen AI technologies.
Experience utilizing generative AI assistants to accelerate work processes.
