Job Description Position: Staff Network Engineer – Data Center & Core Network Engineering Location: Mountain View, CA (Hybrid: home and LinkedIn office). As a Staff Network Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and automation of network infrastructure for data centers and optical networks. You will provide technical leadership, collaborate across teams, and balance competing priorities while ensuring network performance, capacity, reliability, and observability. Responsibilities Review architectures, network designs, provisioning tools, and recommend continuous improvements for performance, capacity, reliability, and observability. Design, deploy, and operate large-scale network infrastructure for multiple regions. Perform maintenance, upgrades, and automate deployments and fault remediation. Address network security and compliance issues. Participate in on-call rotation, resolve outages, conduct post-mortems, and remediation plans. Evaluate new platforms to scale operations and drive requirements with OEMs/ODMs. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: BA/BS Degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience. 5+ years of experience in network and data center engineering in a hyperscaler environment. 5+ years of programming experience (Python, Go, or other scripting). Experience with network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS, RDMA, network overlays) and network-based QoS. Knowledge of Kubernetes, host networking, TCP tuning, and HPC networking. Experience with congestion control (QoS, DCTCP/ECN, eBPF). Experience with network management, configuration generation, and automation tools (Ansible, REST/gRPC, NETCONF, Jenkins, Puppet, YANG, OpenConfig). Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree. Experience evaluating and deploying new HW/SW platforms for DC growth. Design/deployment of network infrastructure for HPC workloads. Hardware/software testing with IXIA or similar. Experience building AI/ML network infrastructure (Infiniband, RoCEv2). Experience with Optical Networking (DWDM, ZR, transceivers). Compensation Pay range: $152,000–$248,000.
