Position Title: Middleware Engineer
Location: Charlotte, NC; Chandler, AZ; Richmond, VA
Start Date: Target September 9, 2024 (subject to change)
Duration: 12 months
Job Type: Contract (Hybrid)
Shift: Monday–Friday 5×8
Pay Range: $55–$60 per hour
Responsibilities The Middleware Engineer will lead end‑to‑end administration duties for critical banking platforms, delivering middleware infrastructure for enterprise projects and regulatory initiatives. Key responsibilities include:
Design, deploy, and maintain middleware installation and configuration across J2EE, WebSphere, WebLogic, Tomcat, Spring Boot, and other Java/Container Framework environments.
Perform risk mitigation, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and triage as L3 production support, ensuring production stability and timely remediation.
Collaborate with application and testing teams to provide middleware advice, consultation, and support on a daily basis.
Create and maintain application deployment templates, serving as a J2EE architect and recommending best practices.
Design middleware infrastructure topology for high availability and fail‑over, ensuring compliance with policy, baseline, and standards.
Ensure all solutions meet policy, baseline, and standards along with business requirements.
Communicate with business partners, internal customers, and external vendors across the SDLC, executing precise production changes for integrated and regulatory releases.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience as a Java/J2EE Middleware Engineer.
5+ years of overall middleware engineering experience.
Proficiency with at least one of the following middleware products: Appian, Software AG WebMethods, IIS, .NET Framework, WebSphere, WebLogic, Tomcat, Apache, Spring Boot, JBoss, BMC Remedy, Harmonic mDeliver, BMC Bladelogic Server Automation.
Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
Experience with Java/Container Frameworks.
Proficiency in one scripting language: shell, Python, PowerShell, Jython, or Perl.
Experience with release/deploy tools such as Ansible, Ansible Tower, XLR, BitBucket, or Celestial.
DEVOPS experience and prior Bank of America experience are preferred.
Knowledge of network infrastructure (HTTP/S, TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, load‑balancers, firewalls, proxies, B2B links).
Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong attention to detail.
