Your role
As Application Technologist (m/f/d), you work in a highly creative and innovative role supporting business growth, customer needs, and product launches. You ensure that projects are delivered on time, with high technical quality and strong application performance.
- Execute formulation and product development projects in close collaboration with Product Management, ensuring delivery within agreed timelines
- Develop innovative cosmetic formulations aligned with marketing concepts and customer requirements
- Formulate and optimize a wide range of personal care products, including:
- Leave-on and rinse-off applications
- W/O and O/W emulsions
- Gel-based systems
- Surfactant-based formulations
- Work with functional ingredients, with a focus on sun care and color cosmetics
- Benchmark and analyze competitive products, including evaluation of UV filters, emulsifiers, and other key raw materials
- Plan and conduct laboratory work, including:
- Stability testing
- Analytical and sensory performance evaluations
- Use of equipment such as microscopy, rheometer, and UV-Labsphere
- Evaluate and interpret formulation and test data using internal systems and databases (e.g. SAP, ServiceNow)
- Coordinate sourcing and ordering of raw materials, working closely with internal and external suppliers
- Assess and qualify alternative suppliers for existing raw materials and formulations
- Collaborate cross-functionally with analytical, production, and other technical teams
- Support and coordinate internal and external testing, such as SPF testing and PET studies
About you
- Degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or a related field, or training as a chemical laboratory assistant with relevant experience
- Ideally around 2 years of experience in cosmetic formulation or a related laboratory-based role
- Hands-on expertise in personal care formulations, especially:
- Emulsions (W/O and O/W)
- Gel-based products
- Surfactant-based systems
- Fluent in English and German (written and spoken)
Autonomous, curious, and creative mindset with the ability to work effectively in an international environment
- Good knowledge of MS Office and laboratory-related IT systems (e.g. SAP)
- Experience with formulation databases and documentation tools is a plus
