Part‑time position that supports the Alvin College Marketing Department, limited to no more than 19 hours per week.
Terms of Employment Requires a flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include working days, evenings, and/or weekends.
May require travel to our main campus in Alvin and/or to various off‑site locations, including local high schools in Alvin, Danbury, Manvel and Pearland.
Requires the provision of official transcripts and/or certifications within 30 days of hire.
Applicants with academic credentials from non-U.S. accredited institutions are required to have their coursework evaluated in terms of U.S. equivalency. All international credential evaluations must be conducted by one of the companies affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES). Applicants bear the responsibility of requesting, paying associated fees, and obtaining an original transcript evaluation for submission to the Office of Human Resources. Job Overview Provides support to the Web Services Team and Marketing Director by maintaining website content, assisting with digital updates, and supporting Marketing & Communications initiatives. This role ensures website accuracy, functionality, and timely updates while contributing to departmental projects and events. This position is limited to no more than 19 hours per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Review the Alvin College website regularly to identify and report outdated content, broken links, and inconsistencies
Assist with daily website content updates using the college’s Content Management System (CMS) and work request system; communicate with internal stakeholders as needed to clarify or fulfill requests
Perform cross-browser and basic accessibility checks to ensure consistency in design, functionality, and user experience
Support the Web Services team with routine technical and content-related tasks
Maintain the online events calendar by creating web-ready graphics, posting events, and ensuring all details are accurate and up to date based on Marketing materials
Create and edit digital images for website use as directed by the Web Services Manager
Provide occasional support for Marketing & Communications events and initiatives throughout the year
Other duties as assigned
Work Environment The employee typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. The employee may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday.
Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to twenty pounds.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
Certificate or Associate’s degree in web development, design, digital media, or a related field or equivalent working experience
Minimum of two years of experience in a professional work environment or in a customer support-related role
Experience working with websites, CMS platforms, or digital content
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
Bilingual – English/Spanish
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong customer service skills and interpersonal skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to create clear documentation or detailed notes
Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS); experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) is a plus
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy
Ability to work independently, follow established processes, and respond to time-sensitive requests in a fast-paced environment
The department will provide ongoing mentorship and product training
